2007-2008 Season Accomplishments
Saints Enjoy Both Regular Season and Postseason Success
The 2007-2008 season was highly successful for the Siena College Saints Men's Basketball Team. A list of their accomplishments include:1) Victory over top-25 ranked Stanford Cardinal
2) Share of MAAC Regular Season Championship
3) MAAC Tournament Champions (Automatic bid to NCAA Tournament)
4) NCAA Tournament First Round upset victory over 4th-seeded Vanderbilt University
Next Season's Highlights (2008-2009 Season)
Saints Hope to Continue Their Success Against an Impressive Schedule
After their highly successful 2007-2008 campaign, the Siena Saints return all of their starters (including Senior Kenny Hasbrouk, pictured here) and hope to continue their success in 2008-2009. It won't be an easy task; their schedule offers many challenges:- Preseason trip to Italy, August 16-29
- Inclusion in the 2008 Old Spice Classic in Orlando, FL, The field for the third annual event is loaded with current and traditional college basketball powerhouses. The teams will include Georgetown, Gonzaga, Maryland, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Siena, Tennessee and Wichita State.
Seven of those eight teams qualified for postseason play in 2007-08, including five in the NCAA Tournament and two in the Sweet 16. Michigan State and Tennessee advanced to the Sweet 16, Siena and Georgetown advanced to the second round and Gonzaga also made the NCAA Tournament. Maryland and Oklahoma State played in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT).
- A December 18th game at Big East Conference Member Pittsburgh
- A January 6th game at reigning National Champion Kansas Jayhawks.
