Undoubtedly, the Internet and eBay have revolutionized the way the world shops and continue to do do so.

  • Every 2.5 seconds, a book is sold on eBay.
  • Every hour, over 100 Barbie dolls are sold on eBay.
  • In 2001, a pair of Levi's ® jeans from the 1880's sold for $46,532.

eBay continues to go strong yet you may know absolutely nothing about how the site actually functions. You can't begin to imagine buying items on an Internet auction site and paying strangers for merchandise you bid on through an online payment service.

How does it all work?

Let's get started...

Getting Registered On eBay

First of all, eBay requires all users to register. Now is as good of time as any to get started. Just click on the banner ad below and fill out the requested information to become an eBay member:

As purchases are completed, members become "verified" and receive feedback from other buyers and sellers regarding their satisfaction with the transaction. You can read through any member's feedback or view a percentage of satisfied customers for anyone prior to engaging in your transaction.

Payment Options

Several payment options are available; money orders are accepted by most eBay sellers, and some will accept personal and cashier's checks. However, the preferred method of payment by most is eBay's PayPal service. This allows individuals to pay either by credit or debit, or by electronic check.

In case you're wondering, the money is deposited into the seller's PayPal "account", and it can either be used to pay for eBay fees and other merchandise, or a PayPal debit card can be issued so that the money can be used anywhere that major credit cards are accepted.

Using eBay

The eBay auction site is a great place to find discounts on electronic items, many collectibles, antiques, hard-to-find items, etc.. Using eBay is easy, and with a little practice, you can become an expert at the process.

A Work From Home Opportunity Through eBay Sales

How often have you wished that you didn't have to get up every morning, get ready, and make the commute to work? How many times have you thought about what you could do to start your own business and work from home? Try as you might, though, you can't seem to come up with an idea that is suitable for providing your family in the same way as your current career path.

There is an answer to your problems. Rather than jump head first into a business that you cannot guarantee to be profitable, you can begin with a small side business that can supplement your current income. One of the quickest ways to get started is to set up for eBay sales. This is a work from home business opportunity that can be set up on the side of your present job and grow from there.

At first, you'll reap the benefits of the additional income, regardless of how much or how little it may be. It is still supplemental to your current salary. Then, as you learn more about how eBay sales work, you'll be able to manipulate your sales structure to make more profit, and you'll get satisfaction out of your own personal success.

Eventually, your eBay sales will turn into a self supporting business, and you'll be able to exit the workforce and live solely off your eBay business venture. You'll reap the benefits of being your own boss and setting your own hours. You'll be able to determine what you sell and set your own prices. You won't have to commute to and from work every day, and you won't even have to get dressed in the morning if you don't wish to do so.

Best of all, you'll have a lot more time for your family and for pleasure activities. You'll have time to get to those projects around the house that you've been anxious to do for years, and you'll be more satisfied with your lifestyle. It's easy to get started - simply register with the eBay auction site, find something to sell, and list it. The worst thing that can happen is that the item doesn't sell, and you have lost a few cents. Don't give up; keep trying till you find your niche. It is well worth the effort when you reach success.
