Countdown to Christmas Day

Christmas Day: December 25, 2012

Silent Night

Silent night, holy night. All is calm, all is bright. 'Round yon virgin mother and child. Holy infant so tender and mild. Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night. Shepherds quake at the sight;Glories stream from Heaven afar, Heavenly hosts sing alleluia. Christ, the Savior, is born! Christ, the Savior, is born!

Silent night, holy night. Son of God, love's pure light. Radiant beams from thy holy place, with the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord at thy birth, Jesus Lord at thy birth.

Alleluia!
Alleluia!
Alleluia!
Alleluia!

Christ, the savior, is born!

JESUS is the Reason
for the season !

Silver Bells

Silver Bells

Silver bells, silver bells
it's Christmas time in the city
ring-a-ling, hear them ring
soon it will be Christmas day!

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks
dressed in holiday style
in the air there's a feeling of Christmas!

Children laughing, people passing
meeting smile after smile
and on every street corner you'll hear . . .

Silver bells ( silver bells! ) silver bells
( silver bells! )
it's Christmas time in the city
ring-a-ling ( ring-a-ling! ) hear them ring
( hear them ring!! )
soon it will be Christmas day!

Strings of street lights, even stop lights
blink of bright red an' green
as the shoppers rush home with their treasures!

Hear the snow crunch, see the kids bunch
this is Santa's big scene
and above all this bustle you'll hear . . .

Silver bells ( silver bells! ) silver bells
( silver bells! )
it's Christmas time in the city
ring-a-ling ( ring-a-ling! ) hear them ring
( hear them ring!! )
soon it will be Christmas day!

Silver bells ( silver bells! ) silver bells
( silver bells! )
it's Christmas time in the city
ring-a-ling ( ring-a-ling! ) hear them ring
( hear them ring!! )
soon . . . to fade

O Holy Night

O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!

WHAT A WONDERFUL GOD

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Here's a fun one...

Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

Johnny Marks (c) 1949

You know Dasher and Dancer
And Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid
And Donner and Blitzen.
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
(reindeer)
Had a very shiny nose
(like a light bulb)
And if you ever saw it
(saw it)
You would even say it glows
(like a flash light)
All of the other reindeer
(reindeer)
Used to laugh and call him names
(like Pinochio)
They never let poor Rudolph
(Rudolph)
Play in any reindeer games
(like Monopoly)

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
(Ho Ho Ho)
Rudolph with your nose so bright
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?
Then all the reindeer loved him
(loved him)
And they shouted out with glee
(yippee)
"Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
(reindeer)
You'll go down in history!"
(like Columbus)

Rudolph's Beginning

Did you know this....? Rudolph came to life in 1939 when the Chicago-based Montgomery Ward Company asked one of their copywriters, 34-year-od, Robert L. May, to come up with a Christmas story they could give away to shoppers as a promotional gimmic.

Let It Snow

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

It doesn't show signs of stoppin',
And I brought some corn for poppin',
The lights are turned way down low,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate goin' out in the cold.
But if you really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.

The fire is slowly dyin',
And my dear, we're still good-byein',
But as long as you love me so,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

I love Chrsitmas Carols - but too often now you just hear Christmas Songs. It would be a shame if the next generation doesn't learn them. Songs like Baby, It's Cold Outside are fine, but I want to hear the carols.

I love Christmas. The lights, the music, the atmosphere. But the most important thing to remember is that it's a celebration of Jesus' birth!
