    Hi Joan,

Thanks, for some sweet memories! :O)

Now, kindergarten to second grade were in Canada for me (& my family's from Haiti). So, my favorite silly songs were in French. One was TROIS ESKIOM (THREE ESKIMOS--Sorry, they didn't say Inuit, then), but my favorite was one I never could memorize: LA SOURIS VERTE (THE GREEN MOUSE). Not the version that's popular, now, but the one from the French Canadian TV show of the same name.

In fact, I just did finished a charity Squidoo lens on the show & song (with translation). It's very cute, & any money made when you click ads goes to Young Inventors International.

Oh, & one English-language silly song I simply love is I'M GONNA MAIL MYSELF TO YOU! Hahaha! Kid Songs does the BEST version! It's by Woody Guthrie. You gotta love that.

    Sunshine & Blessings,
    Giovani

At my preschool, we sing five little monkeys and use the children's names: "(Tomoki) fell off and bumped his head." They love pretending to fall and bump their heads.

What a BRILLIANT idea for a lens!!! I lOve it!! And you've done it so well! I have many, many favourite silly songs, but one of my favourites (although I only heard it as an adult, not as a child lol. But when I did I thought it was just the best!) is "Little Rabbit Fufu". - I once sang that over and over on a long stressful drive through South Africa, when my car kept breaking down and I was driving alone. I sang it over and over - to the engine of my car as I drove! LOL - now thAt's silly! ... But it did keep me going, and it was very comforting :) Thanks again for a great lens!!
  • SkinnyHorse Jun 11, 2010 @ 9:04 pm | delete
My kids and I enjoyed this so much. We sang and laughed. Even my 17 year old. Thanks for a fun place to bring the kids. My favorite song was, and still is "The Little Chicken Who Wouldn't Lay An Egg" but my kids want me to say "5 Little Monkeys".
    Thank again, we had fun!

    What kind of anti-american kids are they? The word's are either "I'm a Ford, Yes, I'm a Ford" or "I'm a four-door, I'm a Ford" Either way - they ARE a Ford.

Delightful, for me it's an old Shona lullaby from Zimbabwe,'Tula, tula, tula little piccanini.' Roughly translated means," Quiet, quiet, quiet little child." Especially poignant when sung by the indigenous people.

Such a fun lens, Joan! Fruit Salad is one of my faves -- since grandson introduced the Wiggles to me. Our favorite part in Fruit Salad is the "uhuh huh." Aw, he's "outgrown" them now, but he did get to see them in Atlanta when he was about four. I'm still a big fan of their sweet, sweet music. ...Yep, the Song That Never Ends, whew! LOL ...Love this happy lens. :)

I love these! You chose some good ones. One I remember our kids singing is There's a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea. Fun, fun lens!

Funny, funny! I could not believe there was a video of Brown Squirrel. That's a HOOT! What about Pruney?

We love to sing kids silly songs with our grandchildren -- and with adults, too! Sing as if no one is listening! Have fun!
