Silly things children do to make us laugh
In its simplest form, we must ensure our children are safe, educated, fed and clothed, and all of these aspects not only involve our time - they involve a lot of money.
Taking a further step up the ladder, we must encourage their development of self-esteem, encourage our children when they face difficult situations and try our best not to continually make decisions for them - age appropriately, of course.
Climbing the ladder even further, we must be willing to listen to our children - without judging - regardless of what problems they are going through. If we want them to come to us regardless of what they are facing, we must exercise control of our emotions in front of them.
At the point when we reach the proverbial top rung of the ladder, we are able to provide unconditional love to our children even when we can't support every decision they make. As you can imagine, this is the ultimate goal of every parent.
However, for a few brief moments, let's put the stress of parenting aside and focus on the entertaining aspects of being a parent because, face it - our children sometimes do and say the craziest things.

Mom, this water is colder than I thought! Rescue me!
Taylor - you don't know what she's going to say next
Taylor's grandfather was visiting her for a week and a half. He spent lots of time with her whether baking, playing, or tidying up.He also spent time with her parents - his son and daughter-in-law - when they were home. They laughed, talked and went shopping and reminisced about memories of long ago.
Taylor's father went out to work one day. A while later, she heard keys jingling outside the door and, turning to her grandfather, she said, "Your boy is home."
Packing for a road trip to PEI
Owen and I were loading up the trunk of the car before heading off to PEI. The girls were occupying themselves while Miles hung out with us.At one point, Miles seemed to get very excited and clung to me tightly.
Going by this photo, I can only presume he was becoming very excited about the trip and wanted to be sure he was included. :)

We were eating at Jungle Jim's when Amber heard a song she liked. "I'm going to get up and dance," she said...and she did.
What's going through his mind?

I can only imagine...
"I'm going to take care of this situation..."
"What the heck am I seeing?"
"Sis, you better be careful!"
"I'm going to face my fears; I'm going in the water even if it is COLD."
"Wow! Look at that bird."
"Mom, I see a moose; it's so much bigger than me."
Whatever the case, his expression is priceless as though he is preparing to take on the world.
My salvation
If it wasn't for the entertaining aspects of parenthood, I'm sure I would have lost my mind long ago.
We're getting too old for this...aren't we?
We had gotten off the Caribou - one of the ferries which goes between Newfoundland and Nova Scotia - and stopped for breakfast. We had a delightful meal and decided to relax on the grounds outside, taking a few photos.
I turned, at one point, and saw Owen standing with Courtney in his arms as he would a toddler. I couldn't believe my eyes - and Courtney enjoyed every moment.
Little Monkey
We were staying at the Battery Hotel and Suites in St. John's, Nfld. After a little while, knowing Miles didn't leave the hotel room, I went to search for him because he was far too quiet.
I walked into the washroom and saw him swinging his body while hanging onto the rim of the pedestal sink.
It was definitely NOT what I expected to see and it was hilarious.
"Mom, why did God make people different colors?
I didn't have an answer!"

I just can't listen to this anymore!

Children slide on snow. How about down sand dunes? My girls tried and had lots of fun.
"No matter what a day brings, our soul is stirred at the sight of our children."
Look at me now!
Miles loves to play. He can play most of the day with one thing or another; it may be a truck but, more than likely, it's something from the kitchen. However, on scattered occasions, he pretends to be a dog; he even growls and it sounds quite frightening sometimes.
What a daunting task?

We were working around the house on a glorious summer day; Courtney was going with the sheers trimming around the sides of the house and trees while Miles decided to go for the wheelbarrow. It didn't take long for him to realize the daunting task he had undertaken.
Nonetheless, he forged ahead figuring he may as well get started...
Sharing fun
Is there any greater joy than sharing fun with your children?

Looking goooooooooooooood!

I know I'm a little rascal but I bet I enjoyed the ice cream more than you did. Yummy!
Visiting Tinkertown
Located just outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, is an amusement park. There are several rides, a few game booths, concession stands, and so on.However, there's a section with a few mirrors and my children and I, along with my sister, had a few laughs and took a few photos in this area of the park.
In this photo, Miles is surprised at the size of his feet and my sister's legs. :)
Take a look at some of these photos and see if they bring a smile to your face.

What happened to everyone?

Holy Smokes! This is just too much!
"Mom, I'm smart. I know that 2 x 2 = 4.
This is what Courtney said to me a few years ago."
Sitting in the trunk of the car

Sitting in the trunk of the car can be fun sometimes; I enjoy it. There's usually room to move around and, sometimes, I've even had to change my pull-up here...but I won't talk more about that. :)

Am I really walking on air!

Peek-a-boo!

Wait up, guys! My legs are shorter than yours, you know.

- Thanks so much! My children, coupled with my imagination, provides a lot of fodder for such a lens as this. It was a nice change from all the factual lenses I've created; I may create more of this caliber in the future.

- I can only imagine the mess your daughter must have made and how long it took you to clean it up. Like you, I would have had to take a photo so I could show her years later; she'd likely wonder how I ever managed to handle it all. :)
