and years of silver dollar coins produced by the United States mint. These dollar coins are well known for their beauty, large sizes and abundant silver content. There are early rare date silver dollar coins and high grades of the newer years that can be quite expensive but there are plenty of common date coins in both high and lower condition grades that should be well within the budget of coin collectors just starting out.

Types of U.S. Silver Dollar Coins
Early date dollar coins are considered coins minted during the years 1794 to 1804, as a rule of thumb these coins can be pretty expensivein just about any condition grade. Next there are the Seated Liberty silver dollar coins that were minted during the years 1836 to 1873, these coins are fairly expensive to purchase too. The next group consists of the Morgan silver dollar coins produced from 1878 to 1904 and 1921 and the Silver Peace dollar minted from 1921 to 1935. Both the Morgan dollar and the Silver Peace dollar coins offer coin collecting enthusiasts a large variety of dates and condition grades at affordable prices as well as extremely rare dates and condition grades at record setting prices. The last group of silver dollar coins would be referred to as modern day issues that would consist of American Silver Eagle one dollar coins and other specialty dollar coins containing silver that were produced by the U.S. Mint.
Morgan Silver Dollars
The U.S. Morgan silver dollar coins are one of the most sought after coins by U.S. coin collectors second only to the Lincoln head penny. Morgan dollars were produced by the U.S. Mint on and off again from 1878 to 1921. These popular one dollar silver coins are named after the coins designer, United States Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan. These relatively large size coins have a metal content of 90.0% Silverand 10.0% Copper. Morgan dollars were minted in Philadelphia, New Orleans, Carson City, San Fransisco and Denver. The 1995 Morgan silver dollar is the rarest of the Morgan dollar coin series and is often referred to by coin collectors as "King of the Morgan Dollars". The Morgan silver dollar was replaced with the Silver Peace dollar in 1921.

U.S. Silver Peace Dollars
The Silver Peace dollar replaced the Morgan silver dollar in 1921. These one dollar silver coins were minted from minted from 1921 to 1928 and 1934 to 1935. Designed by Anthony de Francisci, the obverse or front of the coin features a bust of Lady Liberty and the coins reverse features a perched eagle. Metal content of the Peace Dollar is 90% silver and 10% copper and the coins weigh 26.73 grams.These were the last silver dollar coins produced by the United States Mint for circulation with the general public. American Eagle Silver Coins
Silver Eagle dollar coins have been produced by the United States Mint since 1986. The U.S. Mint produces two versions of these coins, bullion coins for investors and American Eagle proof coins for collectors.
