From the lens How Much Silver is in Your Silverware?.

I was lucky enough to pay off my student loans (FINALLY) last year and have been looking for an investment other then stocks or bonds. A few months ago I started buying an oz of pure silver whenever the price was lower. It has been fun plus it's nice to physically put your hands on an investment rather then just seeing a number!

As I understand it, silverware helped the wealthy elite to survive some diseases because of silver's anti-micro-bio. properties, as opposed to commoners using wooden utensils.

Silverware is magnificent and looks very exquisite in a festival . I love silverware and use it for decor .

great info lens...I have inherited two sets of SS silverware...mine does not turn black as I have a cloth in the woodenbox that keeps it from turning, although there are some spots that need cleaning, SS is much heavier and has a feel to i,t more so then plated, it also has a distinct taste...5*

This is a good question! My silver set is sitting in a wooden chest in our pantry -- it is so black that I dread cleaning it. Too bad it has to tarnish.
