Tips for cleaning your Swarovski crystal jewelry.
Every piece of Swarovski crystal jewelry Jive Jewelry features is designed using an assortment of crystals, stones, and glass/resin beads. The jewels are cast in a pewter alloy, which is electroplated and hand relieved to give each item an "antique" look; creating a look of classic elegance with modern flare.
After you've found the crystal jewelry of your dreams you may ask yourself: How do I keep it dazzling like the day I bought it?
Here are a few steps you can follow to ensure your Swarovski crystal jewelry sparkles like new all year round.
- Baby wipes can be used to restore the brilliance of your Swarovski crystals. Simply hold the wipe between your thumb and fingers and roll the crystals back and forth once or twice, continuing the process until you've cleaned them all. Dry them off with a clean cotton cloth or a plain tissue.
- Heavy use of hairspray or perfume could eventually damage the finish. Put on perfume or hairspray before you put on your jewelry.
- Combine water, rubbing alcohol, and dish soap for a non-abrasive solution that will clean hairspray, skin oils and perfumes off the surface of your Swarovski crystal jewelry. Thoroughly mix 3/4 cups water, 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol, and 1/2 tablespoon of dish soap in a plastic container (preferably with a lid). Place your jewelry in the solution and leave it in there for one-two minutes. Gently swirl the container for 30 seconds then let it sit for the remaining minute. After you remove your jewelry run it under warm water to wash off the dish soap and dry with a cotton cloth.
- Do not use silver or jewelry cleaners. Standard jewelry cleaners contain solvents that may react with the plated finish of your Swarovski crystal jewelry.
- Try not to bath or swim while wearing your piece. Over time, water and salt water will damage your jewelry.

Tips for cleaning your sterling silver jewelry.
When Sterling silver jewelry tarnishes there's no need to panic - it can easily be cleaned back to its natural luster and shine. The tarnish is due to interactions between silver and sulfides in the air. First it takes on a golden hue, then turns black. Humidity, air pollution, and higher sulfide levels in general are the culprits of sterling silver tarnishing. Nevermind the ever-changing jewelry trends, the fact remains that sterling silver is beautiful, versatile, and easy to take care of!
Some tips for cleaning your Sterling Silver Jewelry
Tarnish remover: Be sure the tarnish remover is safe for pearls or soft stones like opal or turquoise if you have that kind of jewelry. Most of these pastes can be applied then removed with a dry cloth. If the piece is antiqued you want to be careful not to remove it.
Dry Baking Soda: You can clean sterling silver jewelry using Arm and Hammer baking soda. Fill a small freezer baggy half full with baking soda. Drop in the silver jewelry and close the bag. Squish the bag so you are rubbing the dry baking soda into the silver. Remove from the bag and shake out. Remove residue with a soft toothbrush. Be careful in using the toothbrush so you don't remove the antique (the dark color that brings out recessed patterns) that is supposed to be there. Tap the silver jewelry on a paper towel to ensure all the baking soda is removed. Another option is to rinse off the baking soda with warm water and gently use the toothbrush. Rinse well. Dry with a paper towel immediately.
Polishing Cloth: A polishing cloth is available at most places that sell jewelry. The cloth will turn dark but can be used for a very long time. The cloth contains chemical cleaners that will give a lasting luster to your jewelry. You can use it when you notice that your jewelry starts to appear dull. It's recommended that after polishing you wash silver jewelry in warm soapy water using a soft toothbrush to clean out the dirt and residue from the cracks.
