Simon Baker is an Australian actor currently starring in the CBS award winning police drama "The Mentalist". He stars as Patrick Jane, an independent consultant, who aids the CSI (California Bureau of Investigation) in solving police crimes by his skills in observation and mentalist abilities.
Also starring on "The Mentalist" is Robin Tunney, as CSI Senior Agent "Teresa Libson". Other cast members include Tim Kang, Owain Yeoman and Amanda Righetti. "The Mentalist" won "The Favorite New Drama" award at the 35th People's Choice Awards in January 2009.
Also in 2009, Simon Baker starred in the remake of the Old 1927 Hitchcock movie "The Lodger" (2009). Simon Baker's lastest movie "Margin Call", an independent drama film starring Kevin Spacey will be released sometime in 2011.

"The Mentalist" is a police crime drama on CBS which made its television debut on September 22, 2008.
This popular police crime drama returned for a second season on September 24, 2009 at 10pm ET/PT on CBS in the USA and on September 22, 2009. It airs at 10pm ET/PT on CTV in Canada. "The Mentalist" is the Number 1 new show from last season. It is up against "Jay Leno" on NBC and "The Practice" on ABC in the 10pm time slot on Thursday evenings.
"The Mentalist" was nominated for a 2009 British Crime Thriller Award for "Independent International TV Dagger". The awards were presented by the British Crime Writer's Association and took place in Britian on October 21, 2009. The award went to "The Wire" on HBO.
It was announced that "The Mentalist" will be returning for a third season in the Fall of 2010 on CBS.

This is the first award for "The Mentalist".
Simon Baker was nominated for an 2009 Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. The 61st Prime Time Emmy Awards Show, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, took place in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre. The award for Outstanding Lead Actor 2009 in a television drama went to Bryan Cranston on AMC's "Breaking Bad". Congratulations to all of the nominees and the award winner Bryan Cranston.

- I have to say I've only seen him in the Devil wears Prada, he was excellent in that. I've seen previews of the Mentalist and it looks like something I'd like.
