Sarah's book covers six principles

they are

gratitude copyright 2010 Lynn Palazzo1.Gratitude
At the heart of Simple Abundance is an authentic awakening, one that resonates within your soul; All you have is all you really need to be genuinely happy. All you need is the awareness of how much you really have, and then give thanks.

2.Simplicity
The simpler we make our lives, the more abundant they become.
There is no scarcity except in our souls.

3.Order
Lasting change does not happen overnight
Lasting change happens in infinitesimal increments, a day an hour, a minute, a heartbeat at a time.

4.Harmony
Is the inner cadence of contentment you feel when the melody of life is in tune.

5.Beauty
Creating a beautiful life is your highest calling
It is in the ordinary and overlooked details of every day that beauty if revealed, sustained and nurtured.

6.Joy
Your happiness is not a frivolous expendable luxury.
Joy is your soul's purpose.
Now here's a reason to be grateful.

The Gratitude Journal

A daily practise

In the first section of the book we are introduced to keeping a Gratitude journal.
When I read through the book each day for the first time back in 1997, I had never heard of such a concept. I am so grateful now to have discovered through Sarah's book a tool to fill me up with more gratitude than I ever imagined. Actually writing in a book each day the things you are grateful for, helps you to see all the things you had forgotten that bring you joy, pleasure, happiness, laughter and so much more in your life.

The Simple Abundance Companion

The Companion book to Simple Abundance is more of a workshop, and really helps you go deeper in discovering your authentic self.
I have to say that following the books changed my life, I discovered so much about myself, and I have learned to live in gratitude and joy.
Of course we all have bad days or difficult things or events to deal with in life, and I have had a lot of horrible things to deal with, but now I am truly grateful for them too, because they made me who I am today, and that is a better person. This book helped open my soul to life, where before I was just going through the motions. Thank you Sarah Ban Breathnach.

Amazon Review:
Before Simple Abundance was a bestselling book, it was a highly successful workshop taught by author Sarah Ban Breathnach. Returning to the workshop format, Ban Breathnach has written this workbook-style companion guide. Devised as a month-by-month course, this 12-chapter book offers reflective lessons on topics such as "Choice As a Spiritual Gift," "The Love of Play," and "Sacred Connections." At the end of each chapter Ban Breathnach lists "Soul Assignments," which include penetrating questions alongside lighthearted assignments: going on "creativity excursions" or learning to "color outside the lines" of life.

More Sarah Ban Breathnach Quotes

from Simple Abundance

"Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend... when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present / love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure / the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience Heaven on earth."

"Let's choose today to quench our thirst for the "good life" we think others lead by acknowledging the good that already exists in our lives. We can then offer the universe the gift of our grateful hearts."

"Only when the clamor of the outside world is silenced will you be able to hear the deeper vibration. Listen carefully."

"Real life isn't always going to be perfect or go our way, but the recurring acknowledgement of what is working in our lives can help us not only to survive but surmount our difficulties."

"Turn away from the world this year and begin to listen. Listen to the whispers of your heart. Look within.
Your silent companion has lit lanterns of love to illuminate the path to Wholeness. At long last, the journey you were destined to take has begun."

I've thought about keeping a gratitude journal ... a few years back, I bought an altered journal from a lensmaster in Canada. Must take time to reflect and accumulate my gratitude thoughts. Love this: "The simpler we make our lives, the more abundant they become."

I have the book from your intro photo and read it a couple of times. I still occasaionally pull it out for a little pick me up. As a business owner my life can be complex and hard so the book helps me reaffirm the things that are truly important.

    Dear Koupie,
Happiness is really that simple - the 6 principles that you outlined from Sarah's book. How often do I find that when I get agitated, it is not the world who is responsible for my anger and frustration but only I. I am 100% solely responsible for my happiness. The virtues that you have stated manifests in a peaceful mind and that's what we have to try.
