Delicious Brownies

Ingredients

• 4 bars (4oz) unsweetened baking chocolate
• 3/4 cups (1 1/2 sticks) butter
• 2 cups sugar
• 3 eggs
• 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
• 1 cup flour

Instructions

Heat oven to 350. Grease a 9x13 baking pan. Melt chocolate & butter in a 3 quart saucepan until smooth. Remove from heat. Add sugar, stir with spoon until well blended. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well. Add flour, stir until well blended. Spread into prepared pan.

Bake 30-35 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out almost clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.

You really do want to try and cool completely before cutting to make nice squares. Also, don't over cook it. Like it says in the direction, the toothpick should be 'almost' clean. If it's completely clean, then it will end up being a bit over cooked.

What if you don't normally have unsweetened baking chocolate in the house? You can use baking cocoa and shortening instead. For 4 oz of baking chocolate use 3/4 cups baking cocoa plus 1/4 cup shortening. Melt that in the pan with the butter, mixing until smooth.
