Free Scrapbooking Tools
You can get templates and sketches for free in most community directories, the exciting thing about these printable templates and backgrounds is that they can inspire the imagination with creativity.
Creating unique and original designs is what will help you with your pages, homemade cards and artwork. Especially if you specialize in theme kits with easy to follow instructions.
I get free scrapbook downloads every day from various discount supply stores and one thing you will want to make sure to get is free tools to use in your design projects.
Many of my clip art borders and frames that I use come from scrapbook patterns. Arts and crafts is fun. Homecoming is a good scraping design idea.
I started using these frame graphics for my crafts when I was introduced to digital scrapbooking a few years ago.

Scrapbooking Materials for Your Collage Sheets

You can print these at home and they come in jpeg or pdf formats. Most of my paper supplies come from a online wholesaler or from a eBay store.
Gracious living maintained by kathysfarmer sells over 200 scrapbook collage sheets. Some of my favorite images are the vintage, potporri, spring birds, autumn leaves, cats, or nature series.
You can order them in the arts and craft sections on the auction site.
Also another place is to ATC arts for scrapbooking which is a website that has digital stamps, patterns, papers, cards and even photos.
The prices are really cheap and there is always specials, freebies and discounts.
The interesting thing about scrapebook patterns is that everyone of them is different no one is the same and that is what makes this hobbie so fun.

Paper Crafts and Getting the Right Tools

I started making collages years ago when I didn't have many tools, I believe I just used a glue stick, a pair of scissors and a piece of card stock.
But now I have a whole storage bin full of stuff that I have accumulated and out of everything I have noticed that my staple items will never change, even if I start new design projects.
Here is a list of some of the basic items you will need for your paper craft designs:
1. Self adhesive photo squares
2. All types of stickers
3. Paper Trimmer
4. Paper Cutter
5. Die Cutter Starter Kit
6. Collection of Letters and Alphabets
7. Tracing Stylus
8. Bone Folder
9. Xacto Knife
10. Palette Knife
11, Hemostat
12. Carving Tools
13. Acrylic Block Stamps
14. Ink Pads
15. Miniature Glue Gun
16. Glue Sticks

Creating Keepsakes with Simple Patterns

Most of my designs are easy to do because I use less embellishments.
I find that the less decorative items I use on each project the better, because it allows for appreciation in the focal point of the piece.
For instance I will use patterns with dots, strips, colors or sketches and then keep the other things like ribbons, borders and string to a minimum.
But it also depends on the occasion or event I am working on.
Neutral color palettes work best with formal designs and party theme cards can have a brighter color to them.
Also I have noticed that when I use paper cut outs I can layer the paper crafts giving more of a 3D effect.

Creating Pages and Layouts for Your Cut Outs

Weddings are a popular and busy season, especially during the summer months.
Putting together a homemade memory book can allow for you to choose separate ideas for each page.
The way the different patterns work is that they can be traced on to any type of paper you want and then cut out the desired shape.
I use this for my fold-outs and it works perfectly.
The premade patterns can get costly and that is why so many people look for the free printable templates on the internet.
Especially if you are wanting digital label maker or piercings.
Unless you go to scrapbooking conventions it is probably best to buy your cutouts in bulk that way you can save the extra ones for later projects.
That is another reason that using basic, neutral colors is best because they will work with any theme of book you choose to do.

- This is very nice. I would suggest removing the HTML fancy stuff, because it changes the text that Squidoo uses. It will improve your lens. :)
