Welcome to Simple HTML For Beginners

Do you often look at websites and wonder how they were made to look so appealing. One doesn't necessarily need Html to have a great looking article or document but it does have its benefits and is really fairly easy to learn. At least some of the basics of html. It is simply adding basic tags that enhance your work and make it more attractive to viewers. Adding things like coloured boxes, different styles and design elements, different fonts are all ways to spruce up your work. I am very new to this but I wanted to put all of the things that found and utilize in one spot, so I could find them easier and share my new knowledge with others who need a little help like I did. This will be a very basic tutorial for the absolute beginner, no big technical talk here, just straight forward information that anyone can understand! Some simple but great ideas to spruce up your work! I hope you find something that you can use or maybe just share this site with someone who is struggling and feeling a little lost in this area.

Adding Text and Images

First thing you need to learn is how to add text (words)

For example: If you want to link the name of a place or the name of your business etc. this is how you would do it!

Link

<a href="your url here">place here</a>

Image Tag

This is how you link images (pictures) into an article or document.

<img src="your image code here"/></a>

Using Coloured Boxes

<p style="border:solid 10px #33CCFF;padding:10px"></p>

Just copy and paste this code into your lens. You can change the colours by inserting a new color code.

This box is a great addition to spruce up text. I love to use it when I want to give an extra emphasis on a paragraph of text. It just makes it stand out a little more. You can change the colour of the box very simple by using a Html colour chart and switching the colour code to the one that you want to use.

Here is a great colour chart: Complete HTML True Colour Chart

These are basic tags that are some of the more utilized ones.

The tags are for bold, strong and italics. There are lots of other ones that are used often as well. You may want to use these somewhere in a paragrah to give emphasis to a single word or words. See Basic Html for Squidoo in my featured lenses just below this box, great examples there!
