Thank you for this, and for the what NOT to do...I am so glad I read it because I would have tried to do it all in a day.

Yes, this tutorial was very useful. I came to this page looking for help. My girls and I are working on our first 2 lapbooks simultaneously.....expensive ones that you recommend not doing right at first!!!. They are going very well and we are having alot of fun.
After reading those first 5 Ways to Make it Difficult I got a little discouraged. But I guess it depends on the family. We did add additional mini books that we created separately from independent learning to our lapbooks and we had to include additional file folder flaps for more space to hold our materials. We also are working on rearranging the pages to personalize them a bit more.
The biggest thing I would say I have gained or learned from your article is instructions to really do it myself. I never thought I could handle doing all the mini books all by myself with the girls without the guidance that a prework kit offered. But I have gained alot of confidence in my ability to create one without using a kit. Thank you for that help and confidence booster!!!
I do have a couple more kits that we will use but I am confident that I could do one without the kit.

Since stumbling onto lapbooking I have been so excited about the applications for this resource that I have been bogged down and unable to get started. Thanks for the "Top 5 ways to make lapbooking difficult" section, I'm sure I would have fallen into all of those traps in my enthusiasm. Thank you for this simple way to get started.

Awesome lens! Thanks for all the tips. We are planning to homeschool my (now-three-year-old) daughter, I thought she was too young for lapbooks but based on this lens I think she would love the one-page books with pictures from magazines or her own coloring. Thanks again!

I just started my first lapbook with my three year old daughter today after watching some homeschool lapbook videos and reading sites like these for the last week. We had a great time! My daughter can't wait to do more. Thanks for making getting started so easy!

Thank you for your site. I'm new to lapbooking and this really helps. This is my first year homeschooling. Can you direct me or have suggestions for using lapbook themes as curriculum for ADHD child in third grade? I'd like to get away from "school at home" routine. We're bored with it. THANKS!
  • Nineuh Dec 16, 2007 @ 11:40 pm | delete
Thank you! This is a great help and I can't wait to start tomorrow. We can't afford to purchase our next set of books so I am trying to make use of several different sources-all the while wondering how to pull it all together. BINGO! The kids are going to love this.
  • Susan52 Nov 10, 2007 @ 2:44 pm | delete
Very nice resources, very helpful. Our boys have already graduated - we homeschooled all the way through. I'll make lapbooks for my future grandchildren - can't wait!
