How hexagonal water is better for the planet

Each day in the US more than 60 million plastic water bottles are thrown away. Most end up in landfills or incinerators, and millions litter America's streets, parks and waterways.

For many people tap water is not an option, due to taste, convenience, or fears about the quality of the water. Other people are discovering that many bottled waters are no better than tap water. In addition more and more people are concerned about the effect that used plastic water bottles are having on the environment.

Consider these facts:

* 31% of soda bottles were recycled in 2002, BUT we only recycled 11% of water bottles. In addition to increasing recycling of plastic bottles, and supporting a national deposit to encourage recycling, Create The Change is committed to help reduce the number of plastic bottles being used.
* Plastic bottles can be recycled into: rugs, swimming goggles, dog bowls, back packs, skateboard wheels, ski jackets, and many other items. Plastic bottles are even very fashionable: about five plastic bottles produce enough fiber filling for a ski coat, 25 recycled bottles can make a fleece coat, and it takes 26 bottles to make a polyester suit.
* Plastic bottles go to landfills and take 700 years before they start to decompose.
* Plastic bottles that go into incincerators pollute our air.

What are the solutions?

Other than switching to "Tap Water", which is another issue to be explored, 2 main solutions are:
- Recycling
- A bottle deposit on plastic bottles, such as those used for water and other non-carbonated drinks such as fruit juice, that currently have no deposit.
