The Simpsons, no doubt about it. The Simpsons is one of the greatest shows that has been created. South Park is a fantastic show as well, but I feel it has always been hit and miss with its shows. The Simpsons has certainly lost some spark nowadays but is still razor sharp.

Southpark isn't that good. It's definitely more relevant in society today, but the writers try so so hard to get a laugh that they shit out what they do. Some people laugh at shit though, which is fine, to each his own, but Simpsons is a lot more smooth in the jokes/delivery, and has much better plots.
Now I'm talking as a whole series ... if we're talking Southpark today vs. Simpsons today... I'd give the edge to Southpark, though that's like asking who was better? Hitler or Osama?

The Simpsons during the fourth to sixth season was the bomb. However, they seem ti have slowed down a lot since then. And I literally mean slowed down. The characters are talking much slower and you can pretty much see a joke coming a mile away. South Park on the other hand goes overboard in the sense that during a 20 minute episode they have 5 minutes of Cartman purring to a fucking moon God, and it would be much more effective if it simply lasted 20 seconds. However, if we take EVERYTHING into account, seasons 7-11 of South Park represent the pinnacle of comedy. I'll go with South Park.

About Simpsons
The Simpsons is an animated TV series by Matt Groening. It is a parody of the middle class American lifestyle and is set in a fictional town of Springfield.The main characters are the Simpsons family which consists of Homer (a buffoon who loves sitting on a couch, watching TV and drinking beer), Marge (a stereotypical housewife), Bart (a 10 year old troublemaker), Lisa (a precocious 8 year old) and Maggie, a baby who doesn't speak and is constantly sucking on a pacifier. The Simpsons also features a big array of secondary characters.
The show has been going on since 1989, won a big number of awards including 25 Primetime Emmy Awards, 26 Annie Awards and a Peabody Award and is the longest-running American animated program.
About South Park
South Park is the brainchild of Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The series follows the bizarre adventures of four kids - Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick - in a fictional Colorado town. This satirical show often features crude or dark humor and makes fun of pretty much everything under the sun, including sensitive topics like politics and religion.South Park has received numerous awards including four Primetime Emmy Awards and a a Peabody Award for Comedy Central.

- south park is so much more vulgar while Simpsons is more silly and g rated.Both are funny though. I've gotten into south park lately.

- South Park is the better show, that's pretty damn obvious. Simpsons are washed-up and have been for quite some time now. South Park is totally original, they didn't mimic Simpsons like how Family Guy had and with American Dad being stemmed off from Family Guy and Futurama stemming off of the Simpsons...none of those shows have any creativity behind them. Only South Park and Simpsons are the most creative and in that comparison- South Park IS MY LIFE. I freaking LOVE South Park and always will.

- I love the characterization, the plotlines, and the humor of the Simpsons. I don't think there's any other animated show that's quite like it! Cool topic for a lens, I hadn't even thought of comparing the two.

- I agree somewhat with prosperity. Simpsons just have a type of humor more people can relate to while South Park relies a lot on people laughing at racist jokes or whatever the current political opinion is. I'm not saying that's bad, I'm just saying more people would relate to the Simpsons because of it.
Anyway, I like the poll idea, good job on the lens!

- I'll come back just to learn more about the poll! Pretty sure everyone will prefer the Simpsons over South Park - too vulgar in my opinion; but my son really enjoys both series!

I like Simpsons, but I very much prefer South Park. Not all South Park episodes are all that great but some are simply awesome.
