Sing Karaoke Songs Online
Ranked #4,302 in Music, #119,416 overall
In a recent blog post, I shared some nostalgia by reminiscing over the long lost love I once had for file sharing client Kazaa Media Desktop.
While everyone surely must be a fan of music on some level, we probably all enjoy singing at the top of our lungs on occasion as well. It's probably human freakin' nature or some shit.
Ever get an itch to start singing your all time favorite tunes? Outside of the shower, that is.
I think we all do from time to time, but wouldn't it be cooler to record your karaoke version to hear how amazing or awful it truly sounds to the rest of the world as you sing it blissfully unaware?
I think so. At least sometimes. That's what this post is going to help you hack together.
Download Free Sound Recorder

Logitech ClearChat Comfort/USB Headset H390
(Black)

Head on over to CNET and download this incredibly simple free audio program. I find the little application rather handy for simple recording jobs.
Use a headset or separate microphone, if you have one. You can always just use the internal mic in your laptop or PC, but the sound quality will be substantially lower than if you use a headset or other mic instead.
Personally, I use a Logitech headset that I bought for about forty bucks at Radio Shack.
Start your song searching on YouTube
Then explore your other options. If you insist on getting your instrumentals for karaoke 100% free, then YouTube is the best place to start looking. Just enter a search for the song title you want, plus the word karaoke. If someone has uploaded a version of the song, awesome! Your search is over.

Try Searching Amazon
Another great place to try searching is Amazon, which has a very extensive library of digital karaoke and instrumental versions of songs that only cost a dollar or two to download.
Save them to your online Amazon Cloud Player and keep a local copy of the file on your computer, that's the one you will use to record your song. However, it's always wise to back up your Amazon digital purchases by sending them to your cloud storage space too!
Other Sites to Search
Consider other sites with better quality and cheap prices.Obviously there is a rather limited selection of karaoke versions on YouTube, so you may want to check out some other sites.
Most of them charge no more than you pay for a single iTunes song, so it won't set you back more than a a few bucks at the most.
My personal recommendation if you're willing to shell out a couple bucks for a good song is a site called Karaoke Version. Why do I suggest trying this site? Well, to start off, it has an impressive collection of popular song titles and the sound is obviously higher quality than some of the free YouTube efforts you'll find.
Even cooler than that, a smaller number of songs on the site even have a video version (slightly more expensive) that comes complete with lyrics and timing cues! These seriously rock and are worth the few bucks, in my opinion.
Video karaoke downloads will cost you $2.99 each, while audio files only cost $1.99 per download.
Only if you really dig the song, though. For ones you aren't as into, keep the search limited to YouTube.
Although KV doesn't have many songs (that I've found so far) with a video version, it does have an option to request each specific song in video format. Not sure how much of a difference that makes, but if you're on the page already then it can't hurt to click the request link, right?
Sing and Record Your Song!
The final step is to record your own vocals with your karaoke file or online video!
To do this, open up Free Sound Recorder and get your audio or video file ready to play. First, hit record in the first program and then hit play on your music file.
It will now be recording both the music playing on your computer, as well as the sound of your voice as you rock out to your favorite melodies.
