A Push To Learn Singing and How to Sing Better

My world changed when I realized my voice is an instrument, and that great singing came from learning how to sing rather than by chance. I'm twice the singer now than I ever was before seeking out how to use my voice- and I'm just getting started. You don't ever have to retire your desires of singing well. Here are your next steps!

So how do you sing better? Can anyone learn to sing? Should I take singing lessons even if I'm not naturally gifted? I want to answer some of the big questions that seem to hold people back and offer some tips to stepping it up (and stepping out) with your voice. I'd also like to put some singing myths to rest- usually heavily supported by classically trained student, but detrimental to the aspiring singer.

I can't stress enough that you can learn to sing, and I want to encourage you to further pursue what is probably a desire you've had for a long time- you'll never regret starting now. Also, if you decide that you truly desire to improve your singing, I'll show you some of the resources, programs, and coaches that I've found that are changing my vocals from the inside out- what I believe to be the best vocal tips, lessons, and products you can purchase, along with some great online singing lessons as well.

Anyone can learn to sing. I am. You're next!

Brett Manning's Singing Success Vocal Coaching Program

Yes, you DO need singing lessons

Getting real with what it's going to take to get you to sing well

The first thing you need to do is quit pretending like all you need is a few tips. You're bombarded with cheap tips on everything under the sun. How many "tips" have you read in the last 37 minutes? How about the last 37 days? Are you any closer to your goals?

It's time to get very real with where you are right now. Perhaps you've never sung in your life. Or maybe you're in a band right now, but always struggle with the high and inspired notes. Most of us are somewhere in between, with a burning desire to be good at this. Either way, you're not where you want to be. You are not there. And you're going to need help getting there.

You need a coach.

These are the people that know they can get you to where you want to go. They're not encumbered by irrelevant opinions about your voice. They don't hear the skeptics. And most of all, they are not restricted by a lack of know-how on what it's going to take to get you to the next level.
Important!

Before getting ahead of ourselves, I'd like to point out that I've only ever spent in the neighborhood of $200 on coaching, lessons, and programs- and I've already become a better singer than I could have imagined myself being. It doesn't have to be expensive, inconvenient, or limited.

Who's Right About Your "Natural Range"?

Here's a long-running debate. I know where I stand...

Should you be concerned with extending your "vocal range"?

Loading

Plenty of people are successful staying within their natural vocal ranges.

Until you learn how to use your voice, how do you know where your range is?

The "Natural Range" Conspiracy

Why bad advice is just that- bad advice.

A conversation with a good friend of mine, a classically trained singer, made it painfully obvious that I needed to address the "natural range" conspiracy. He recently explained to me that, for the amount of money I spent on CD and DVD singing lessons, I could have had 10 real lessons with a vocal instructor. He was also skeptical of the claims my preferred instructors made about increasing vocal range almost immediately. Digging a little further, as I bragged about my own progress and increased abilities, he argued that it's futile (more like "improper") to pursue a greater vocal range. He pointed out that there are successful singers in all vocal registers (bass, baritone, tenor, etc), and that you need to work within your range. His advice had the faint residue of a hopeless "if you're not gifted, get over it" kind of tone.

Does anybody know what their "natural range" is? Do You? If not, how would you go about figuring it out?

Here, this helps: WHO CARES? It's been my experience, by and far, that this issue has discouraged more would-be singers than it's ever helped. The truth of the matter is that you need to focus on how to use the full range of your voice, and when you do, and as you develop your voice, you'll see immense improvement in both range and tone quality.

This is why the coaches I choose to listen to can confidently guarantee at least an Octave increase in vocal range in a relatively short amount of time! This is also why I'm hitting notes that I've never been able to hit before, and why, after 2 or 3 years of learning now, I'm still just as motivated to use those same old CD's I bought at first- because I am still getting better, and more and more I'm becoming the singer I've always wanted to be!

The Foundational Singing and Vocal Training Program

In my opinion, the best available anywhere!

OK, I've talked about it a little to this point, let me share with you the single program that's given me such hope in my own singing voice. This is the program that's transformed (and continues to transform) my voice! Anyone serious about learning to sing needs to work through this program.

I'm a researcher, and when I want to learn something, I seem to always find a way. Singing is no different. I've embarrassed myself singing in front of people by not really knowing what I was doing- I wouldn't wish that on anybody. I cringe at the American Idol auditions when people who have no idea how to produce a tone put themselves on national television and try. I was leading worship for our college group, so was motivated to become better vocally. At one point I played in front of a decently large crowd (100'ish) where, during rehearsal, the sound guy found it necessary to give me some pointers on singing from deeper in my chest rather than my throat. Needless to say, the performance was embarrassing at best.

Singing Success struck a chord (no puns) with me. For some reason I knew this was the program that was going to change everything. At the time, it retailed at $200, enough to cause sticker shock to a struggling college student. But I knew, and so I found a way. To this day I encourage anybody to look into this program if they want to sing passionately and freely.

Why Choose CD's and Videos over Face-to-face Lessons to learn How to Sing?

The #1 reason you need to consider the singing success program

The number one reason has nothing to do with the ease and convenience of cd's (although I love doing my lessons on the way to work in my car), it has very little to do with the fact that your money will stretch farther with pre-recorded lessons than it will paying the instructor over and over, and nothing at all with the fact that you can learn on your own the basics and then move on from there...

The Number 1 Reason you need to consider the Singing Success Vocal Training Program is this: You are going to be hard pressed to find a better vocal coach that can teach you to sing like the stars you're listening to on the radio, who has real experience with those stars, and who has trained worse singers than you to be better than you want to be- and does it regularly and consistently.

it's not just vocal coaching that gets you there. It's the right vocal coach that can take you to the next level and beyond. This is my strong suggestion to get Singing Success, and get going in becoming a great singerPPr

The Advanced Singer's Vocal Training Program

After building a solid foundation, Master your "Mix Voice"

Mastering Mix - Advanced Systematic Vocal Training Program

This is like "Singing Success Part 2" and a program I'm going to be investing in as soon as I work through the original program a few more times.

"Mix Voice" is also what's known as "Pop Voice." This is how your favorite singers on the radio are singing. It's less rigid and far more "natural" sounding than a pure legit, or classical, approach. You learn the foundations of this in the original Singing Success program. Don't cheat yourself, start with the foundations (you'll be amazed at your voice by the end of the first program- honestly). But if you have a solid understanding of the voice and some strong vocal coordination, consider "Mastering Mix."
