Search engine in Singapore

This is no Google, but this is a search engine just catering for Singaporeans? Yes, Singapore is small, so can it work...would keep all updated

Singapore search engine shows you that PIE cannot eat!!

Before this singapore search engine comes along or as what they called it " the first singapore local search egine", there are already quite a few search engines. The more famous one would be bai du in China, then there is nasvster in korea and of course Mister wong in germany if I am not wrong.

I guess bai du makes sense in china where the language and culture meant that they would need a search engine that caters to the community and anyway, they have one billion people, with that kind of mass, you can build anything can try to make some money out of it.

But, singapore is a pretty small place, so I guess it should probably be a directory rather than a search engine. Oh, anyway, they are known as rednano.sg, so you might want to check it out and see if you can find something about singapore that needs to be found.

Of course, you would definitely need to know more about singapore first prior to your search! For example, what is that PIE that cannot be eaten?

Well, it is actually a short form of an expressway known as Pan Island Expressway (PIE), or what about nasi lemak, something that doesn't make sense to any of you, but if you rednano it, you would know that it is a rice that our malay folks like to eat (in fact, it is real good with chilli and chicken wings!).

Personally, I do not know if such a search engine would actually add value to the people in singapore. Firstly, who in singapore do not know about PIE, or nasi lemak? And, if it is for the "ang mos" (a term used to mean all foreigners), sure, they might like to know more about local culture, question is who would pay for the advertising.

If you are a local search company, it meant that you need to find local advertisers. So, if the locals probably wouldn't be doing much search, and the ang mos would, but the latter wouldn't be doing any buying -then who is going to do the paying?

But in all fairness, it is a cool platform and I am giving a very one dimensional view about this Singapore local search engine, it has yet to be one years old, so things might get more and more vibrant as the months goes by.

Oh, for those folks are that interested, if you type "tiger" into the rednano.sg, it would not be an animal that comes out, but a beer -you probably have heard of tiger beer right?
