Where to visit, live, work and play in the city state of Singapore.  Geared towards ex-pats living on local packages and not members of an international club.  Fun family outings, great day trips and short hops, and other fun ideas from an American family living in Singapore

Some of the hottest blogs around!

Check out some of Singapore's bloggers. For a country not known for free expression, find out what these bloggers have to say. Witty, funny, sometimes a bit naughty... What do the Singaporians think of the city/nation they live in.

Top 5 things to do with kids under 5

Restless kids? Get them out and about!

My top 5 short day activities for kids under 5 in Singapore
  1. The Singapore Zoo. No surprise here, really, it is cheap (you can even get memberships that allow you to take in one grandparent or helper for free). The water park and playground at the back of the zoo is awesome. Breakfast with the animals is also always a hit. My secret, although I am loathe to share it- Get to the zoo early. 9am. Do the animals, get to the water park and turn them loose. Get home by 12:30-1pm right after a quick lunch. AH an afternoon nap for kids and time for parents to read a book!
  2. Sentosa Island. Again, not a big secret, but head to the beach early, get a spot under a tree. Half day on the beach playing in the waves, leave before the crowds hit around noon.
  3. Snow City. Ok, so it isn't the cheapest hour you will spend, but sleading in Singapore, who would have thought it! The kids love it, rent warm clothes there, but do layer as Singapore kids are pretty wimpy when it comes to cold (not like us hearty adults!)
  4. The Fun Station at Downtown East in Pasir Ris. A great ball room, lots of fun and a perfect escape on a rainy day.
  5. Wet and Wild, Down town east. A fun water park (Will be closed in Oct 2006 for maintenance). Lots of great fun. Bring lots of water proof sunscreen.
