Singer Electronic Sewing Machine - Watch me sew!
I have not used a sewing machine since I was in high school. With the economy the way it is I thought now would be a great time to start making my kids clothes and maybe save some money. I did a lot of research and decided on the Singer Electronic Sewing Machine, specifically the Singer 7470 Confidence Model. After all I didn't want just any old sewing machine. The amount of things that I can do on this machine are limitless.
Back in high school we used to have to thread the needle and by the time it got threaded the class was over. Now with this Singer 7470 Confidence Model it has a Drop & Sew Bobbin system which places the bobbin thread exactly where it is needed, and the built-in needle threader works to automatically thread the needle.
Even though I consider myself somewhat new at using a sewing machine to be able to quickly thread and start sewing and then having my project come out as something to wear is a tribute to the Singer Electronic Sewing Machine because I can actually read the instruction manual and understand it.
Singer Electronic Sewing Machine Features
What makes it better than the rest?
I have not used a sewing machine for a very long time but I decided that I wanted one. After careful research I decided on the Singer Electronic Sewing MachineI have made a quilt, shirts and a dress so far and I am working on another quilt.
My favorite feature of this Singer 7470 Sewing Machine is the unit's Drop & Sew Bobbin system. It places the bobbin thread exactly where it is needed while the built in needle threader makes quick work of threading the eye of the needle. In the past it used to take forever to put the thread in the eye of the needle. I used to wet the thread and squint to get it through the tiny hole.
Also when I am hemming or changing a project, this machine provides 150 stitch programs which includes four types of 1 step buttonholes, an alphabet with upper and lower case, Numbers, a hand look quilt stitch and lots of other decorative stitches.
Everyday I learn something new that this Singer Electronic Sewing Machine

Before you spend your hard earned money on an electronic sewing machine, it is a good idea to hear what others think of the product. Read what actual product owners are saying about the Singer Electronic Sewing Machine. This is my 3rd Singer in 40 years. My first machine made countless dresses, pants, prom dresses, and upholstered a lot of furniture. My second machine was not heavy duty enough for what I do now. I make flannel blankets for Project Linus and average 3-5 blankets a week. The Singer 7470 is perfect! I have tried out all the features, which work perfectly. The instruction book is easy to follow. I love the numerous stitches that can be accessed with just a push of a button and that to get back to straight sewing, you just turn off the machine and when you turn it back on - straight sewing again. Also the price and service at Amazon were great as always!
I have not sewed for a long time and consider myself an advanced beginner. I wanted to get back into sewing without spending a lot, yet I did not want just a basic machine. I found what I wanted with the 7470. It has a lot of cute decorative stitches and a couple built in alphabets in addition to the usual utility stitches. It comes with all the basic feet, a soft plastic cover, nicely done instruction manual, and all the other extras like needles and bobbins. So far I have made some nice home dec type of things and hope to start a garmet next. The 7470 is very smooth running and sews nicely. The menus are very easy to use. It has a mirror image, repeat inifinity stitch and can handle double needles. The sewing area is wide and sturdy. The machine threads easily, the bobbin is drop in, and the needle threader really works!! So far I am very pleased and think I did good getting this one!
I bought this machine in Nov.2008 and have been using it for about 4 months now. I had an entry level Singer for 22 yrs and decided to upgrade to this electronic machine. I consider myself an intermediate sewer who mostly does alteration for my family(taking in, hemming up, etc), and some easy sewing such as pajama pants, window valances, pillow cases, etc.
I am very pleased with the Singer Confidence, especially the price for the functions you get.
2 things I totally enjoy: 1)the automatic needle threader is wonderful! The trick is to make sure you start out with the needle in the highest position, and just follow the pictures in the manual. 2) the auto thread tension works! The machine does adjust itself to the fabric. Although it's still very important that the correct needle size is used. For just these 2 things, I find it worth the money.

- Singer has sure come a long way since I had my first sewing machine. It didn't even backstitch. I had to turn the pieces around. Very nice shopping lens.

- I took Home Ec in high school and was not very good at it, to tell the truth. But that was when I was first introduce to Singer machines. The little bobbin was so easy to load. After high school I found a used Singer and used it while my kids were little.
I don't sew anymore but if I did, I would definitely have a Singer. Very well presented lens and great resource for someone trying to decide what to buy.
