Who does it best?
Johnny Cash first sang Ring of Fire in 1963. It became his biggest hit. His wife, June Carter Cash, and Merle Kilgore wrote the song. The song has been performed by countless singers over the years. Here's the Johnny Cash original, the song by Joaquin Phoenix playing Johnny Cash in the movie Walk the Line, and the totally awesome version by Adam Lambert that blew country music lovers' minds on American Idol.

Get the Movie - "Walk the Line"
Excellent movie on the life of Johnny Cash. Joaquin Phoenix was outstanding as Johnny Cash, as was Reece Witherspoon as his wife, June Carter. They did all the singing themselves.
"Twist and Shout"
"Twist and Shout"
A rock and roll classic, Twist and Shout, was released in 1962. It was also known as Shake It Up, Baby. Another one of those songs that has been performed by countless bands. Which version do you prefer?

"Hallelujah"
Another of my favorites! Leonard Cohen, a Canadian singer and song writer, wrote this beautiful song and released it in 1984. Since then the Rufus Wainwright version has appeared in the soundtrack for Shrek (animated film). The song has been a staple every season for singers vying on American Idol. Be sure to listen to K. D. Lang's powerful version. Whose version do you love?

"Hey, Soul Sister"
Had to get this one in even though I couldn't find many people that have produced it. Who needs another person doing it anyway? Pat Monahan from Train does it best, although I do prefer the full band version. It's one of those songs I can't get out of my head for days. Who's your favorite?

"Unchained Melody"
"Unchained Melody"
Another of my all time favorites, Unchained Melody has been recorded by more than 500 artists in hundreds of languages, according to Wikipedia. Few songs have been so popular. Who can forget the sexy pottery scene in the movie, Ghost, with Demi Moore and Patrick Swazye? Yep, that was Unchained Melody playing during that scene as only The Righteous Brothers could perform it. Pick your favorite version below.

"I Will Always Love You"
"I Will Always Love You"
Originally a song written and released in 1974 by Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston took it to new vocal heights and popularity in the movie, The Bodyguard. Newcomer Leona Lewis has now tried her hand at this difficult but gorgeous song. I had to add Jessica Sanchez after her incredible performance on American Idol in May, 2012. Whose version do you prefer?

One of my favorite new songs, The Dog Days Are Over was released by Florence and the Machine in 2008. I was blown away by The Voice contestant, Vicci Martinez, when she performed it on the show in the first season (2011). I think Vicci has a great career ahead of her. Which do you prefer?

- Hey, great idea. Really enjoyed listening to the different takes on each song and having to pick one in most cases was really difficult. Although I did find that in most cases I was amongst the largest group. Must mean something. Blessed
