Singing Lessons Tips

Singing Lessons Tips is dedicated to helping everyone become a better singer. Whether you want to improve your voice for purely personal reasons, or want to become good enough to sing in a glee club, a local musical production, or a band, Singing Lessons Tips can help you. Even if you have loftier aspirations such as becoming a professional singer or even becoming an "American Idol", Singing Lessons Tips will help you achieve your dreams!

Singing Lessons Tips #1

Stop Screaming and Yellowing!

You cannot sing your best today if you have spent a lot of time screaming and yellowing earlier today or even yesterday. This is only common sense. Ever notice how hoarse your voice is after you have screamed or yelled for a while. Screaming and yelling is detrimental to your singing voice. So stop doing it!

Singing Lessons Tips #2

Don't Dance and Sing at the Same Time

If you want to perfect your singing voice, focus on singing. It is almost impossible to do two things proficiently simultaneously. Either one or the other will suffer. In this case, it is usually your singing that will suffer. If you want to dance, then dance. But if you want to perfect your singing image, then focus on singing only. This doesn't mean you can't move around on stage, just don't try any fancy dance steps. I'm sure we've all seen videos of some of the world's greatest singers. In each case they might move around and gesticulate with their hands, but they are not dancing. Sing, don't dance!

Singing Lessons Tips #3

Gargle with Baking Soda

If your throat is hoarse or sore, gargle with baking soda. Salt is very harsh on your throat. I know that if you have a sore throat your doctor will usually tell you to gargle with salt water. This will usually make your throat feel better and this is fine for the average person. But you are a singer and you need to protect your valuable singing voice. So gargle with baking soda instead of salt. Your singing voice will be glad you did!.

Singing Lessons Tips #4

Sing by Yourself, Not in a Group

A good singer needs to develop "an ear for singing". In other words, a good singer needs the ability to replicate a note after hearing it briefly. Developing your singing ear also involves being able to go from one note to the next note perfectly. This can only be done by singing alone. When you are singing in a group or choir, the only real thing you are developing is the ability to blend in with other voices. To be a great singer you have to develop your ear, and this can only be done by singing alone.
