All In The Family
July 9th, 2008

They say life is a journey and for these two amazing sisters that journey has taken them to all 50 states. Sisters are 2007 Home schooled graduates who have created lenses journaling their adventures across America

One of my favorite lenses is ALASKA the WILD! which details their adventures to Alaska where they got to see a Humpbacked Whale, Tongass National Forest to see the "Mendenhall Glacier", Bald Eagles, Glacier Bay National Park and lots of grizzly bears. Now I don't know about you but the most exciting thing I ever saw on a class trip was Niagara Falls!

Some of their other lenses they have created so far are Real Life Learning in Williamsburg, VA and Old Salem, NC. So stop by and visit these very creative "Sisters" for some real life tales of what it's like to travel across America!

Extracurricular Activities

"And all the women that were wise hearted did spin with their hands..." Exodus 35:25

Get up Little Sister, the morning is bright,
The birds are all singing to welcome the light,
Get up; for when all things are merry and glad,
Good children should never be lazy and sad;
For God gives us daylight, dear sister, that we
May rejoice like the lark and work like the bee."
from Laddie by Gene Stratton-Porter
Handicrafts From the Heart
Here you'll find books and craft kits for crocheting, knitting and needlework to keep you busy and wholesomely occupied.
We love to work on our handicrafts while taking turns reading aloud a great book with our mom.

CHARACTER AND RELATIONSHIPS

Very important part of education

Modest Clothing for Maidens
"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel with shamefacedness and sobriety." 1 Timothy 2:9

As young women, we sometimes have a difficult time finding modest clothing, so we hope this weblens makes shopping easier for you.
COURTSHIP RESOURCES
Here are some of our favorite Courtship Resources that we have used through the YEARS
ANOTHER Courtship Resources Website
This is a list of books and resources you can purchase here or check out at the library to learn about alternatives to dating. Like homeschooling, there is no one way to go about courtship. This list will give you great resources to help you learn from others. Be sure to see if your church library has any of these. If not, consider donating them after you read them.
Meek and Quiet Spirit
We all need to try to have a meek and quiet spirit. It is something to constantly work at. Here are some great books that we have used to inspire us to be meek, quiet and ladylike. We've enjoyed reading most of them aloud with our mom. All of us keep a journal as we read with our testimonies, verses and quotes that we hope will continue to inspire us toward this godly character that seems to be forgotten.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

REAL LIFE LEARNING

Continuing Education At Home
It was hard not to conform to the pattern of the world and yet convince friends and family that homeschool education HAS prepared us and will continue to prepare us for "real life" even after high school graduation. But why change a good thing? Real life learning at home is fun and it works!
KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT COLLEGE
"There are lots of things that never go by rule, there's a powerful pile o' knowledge that you never get at college." from Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery
LEARN AND EARN AS AN ENTREPRENEUR
There is so much to learn and so many different ways. College is just one way to further your education.
ENTREPRENEUR CONFERENCE
As part of our homeschooling and continuing education, we have been to three of Rhea Perry's conferences; Rhea's Education Days, Nashville in 2006 with our Mom; Rhea's Affiliate Marketing Conference, Nashville in 2007 with our sister in-law and all of us attended Rhea's Entrepreneur Days, Atlanta in 2007. We've also been to two area workshops in Raleigh, NC.
Homeschool Dad, Mark Hamby with Lamplighter Publishing was at the Atlanta conference. We love Lamplighter Books so much that our mom gets a copy of each one for our home and our church library!
Rhea Perry always has great speakers at her conferences, such as John Taylor Gatto, Bob and Tina Farewell, Jan Bloom and Joel Comm, the google adsense guy, to encourage and help you learn to be an entrepreneur. We hope to see YOU at Rhea's next conference!
The REAL World!
Some day they'll have to face the REAL WORLD!
Has anyone ever told you that? Perhaps when you started homeschooling or when they reached high school age, and most certainly if college was not the choice for higher education.
There is so much to learn and so many different ways. College is just one way to continue education. Learning should be a lifestyle that lasts a lifetime.
