9 Easy Steps To Website Development

If you want to build a site and you have never done so, what has to be done?

First do not panic. This is very, very important. Do not panic, if you do, you do not get any step further. Keep cool, clean up your computer desktop. Put all the things that will distract you away, put them into a new folder. Next do the same with the table your computer is standing. Again take everything away that does not belong there or will distract you. Do it now... please!

Now that you have a clean workspace let us take the next step. Create your blueprint for website success in 9 easy steps. Do the steps in the order I outline them for you. Take one step at a time AND complete each step BEFORE you go on the next.

Step 1. Find your topic

This should be something you are interested in, a topic that is funny or a good trend. To find out what people are looking for search ebay, Google Trends, Yahoo Buzz. You also can visit digg, technorati, stumbleupon, reddit and see what people find most popular. Have a look what kind of comments the popular topic get.

An other way to get ideas and great topics is by visiting your bookstore, Wal-Mart or library and have a good look at the magazin. What are they writing about, what is in, what is trendy ?

If you have not done already it is time to organize the information. There are two options to do it, one is collect every information online using google notes. The other is to get a notebook name it "My Ideas" and put all the information you found in it. Like the URL, magazin name, issue number and page. Write everything that is important for you in this notebook.

Step 2. Choose a topic

Now we need the notebook MY IDEAS. Have a look at all the notes you took. Is there any topic or topics that stand out, that you find interesting or funny and that get a lot of buzz? Try to narrow it down to about 3 ideas. If you have less is good, but never more than 5. Five is already very high and will take a lot of time.

Step 3. Find your keywords for your topics

If you have some keywords already - great, otherwise do a brain storm first. Have a look at your notes, re-visit sites and be on the look for words that show up often. This can be one, two, three and more words phrases. Write them all down. Sort them into groups.

Next you enlist the help of some online tools, I recommend Wordtracker. The basic no cost version will give you up to 100 variations of your keyword-phrase. Have a close look and choose the best once. Write them down or copy, past and print them out on your printer. When done group your keywords, eliminate all double and pick the very best from each group.

If you have not enough keywords or keyword-phrases you can add some lateral keywords from kwmap.

Step 4. Select your topic

You have 3 topics from step 2 and with the keywords from step 3 it is time to make a decission. Which topic is best? There should be only one topic that is popular for many weeks and months. If there is not a clear answer, go with your favored.

Step 5. Set up your blog

It's time to take action online - get your blog. You can use any kind of blogging software, all are fine. Get a blog at blogger or wordpress. Both host your blog for nothing. Most recommended is Wordpress. If you can spend some money get a domain and hosting for your blog. Be aware that the domain name should be related to your blog topic or your niche, best is to have the main keyword in the domain as well. If you are not sure about a domain name, do it later.

IMPORTANT: install or get a tracking software that you easily plug into your blogger blog or wordpress blog. You need it later to find out how much traffic you get and from where it comes.

Choose an option and get it done before you move to step 6.

Step 6. create content

Now work time starts. Time to create some articles using the keywords you found. But do not worry you can do it. Go to Google and make an exact search using your keyword in quotes. Example : "outsourcing options" . Take a look at the top ranked sites and see if they have articles or content you can use. Choose 3 sites for each exact keyword phrase and summarize the content in your own words. There are other sources too, have a look at wikipedia or even the U.S. government. There is a wealth of information you can mix and reuse.

Get Ready, HAVE YOUR SAY

Your chance to sound off and let others know what's right or wrong or .... well between!?!

Do you have to follow the latest trend to have success? Like make your own video, join all social sites.

Yes, or else you make no money.

No not at all. Content is is king, and google brings visitors for affiliate, ebooks, and adsense.

rfdegrayii says:

Not if you do it just to get a temporary pop in the rankings. Being genuinely active in your niche will go a long way toward establishing yourself as an authority in your field.

Soul-Mate says:

Nope I don't think you have to follow the latest trends like make videos etc. But and this is a big but I do think you need to have a bit of a clue about keywords and know what niche you are going for.

Step 7. your blog posts

Start using your blog. Post around 8 articles, split them into 4 or 5 categories at first. Now establish a routine. Post each day, Monday to Sunday, 2 or 3 articles. Do this 3 or 4 weeks (yes that long!) and you get anywhere between 40 and 90 post. Why you do it? This way you build slowly fresh content. Search engines love it and they will come back often and index you. After 4 weeks you can start to relax if you wish and scale back to 1 article every 2 days.

Step 8. Traffic

Have a look at your stats from your tracking software. Are you getting any traffic? Do the search engine come? How about visitors? These stats might be disappointing or even frustrated and it's time to change that. Take a more active role to get traffic to your site using Web 2.0 and social marketing. You have no clue, don't feel bad, keep on reading.

You got up to 90 post on your blog, start to submit some of them to social bookmarking sites. Use Technorati, digg, delicious, stumbleupon, furl, and a few more you might know and find and all of them are free to join. Onlywire is a great site making it very easy for you to submit your post to social bookmarking sites, use it. When you submit your posts make the headline (title) and stories in such a way that people want to read them, be creative!

IMPORTANT: Do NOT submit all your blog content at once. Take your time, do it over a longer period, make it feel natural for the search engine and get more traffic over a longer time.

Next, move to related blogs within your niche (an other word for your topic area). Find them, read what they post and place a comment under the post. Your comment needs to add value to that page and do not forget to link back to your site. When you do it right, your comment gets posted, and you got a nice backlink.

After that find forums that are related to your site, join them, know what is going on, what was posted and start contributing.

Since you know how to write articles do some more, this time they should be around 500 words. Use the technique you learned in step 5. Submit them to article directories like ezinearticles, articledashboard, and others. Each of these sites will get a unique article. This will help you with long term traffic.

Now some people asked:"Andrew, I am starting out and I am all new to this, are there any traffic stuff I should avoid?". Yes there are, 2 traffic strategies I suggest you to avoid:

1. Traffic Exchange Programs
In a nutshell, you have to join the network and earn "credits" by visiting other community member sites or blogs. These credits can be exchanged for traffic from other members to your site. Now that might sound as a great idea, but think about it, You visit other members site to get credit and not for what they offer, isn't that true for other members visiting your site??

There is also an automated version. Instead of you and other members visiting the site, the PC does it. Now think about that one, for what is that good, getting tons of clicks but no real person visitors. On top the automated version will cause you trouble when you use adsense or likewise broker on your site. They don't like it, it's illegal.

2. Safelist
Just type that word in google and you get over 3 million results. Safelists are lists which contain email addresses of individuals which have agreed to receive email from the other members of the email safelists. These lists are usually big, numbering in the thousands, and again they can be free or paid. Sounds all nice, right? If all are on the list for the same reason, to promote there own website or product, what are the chances that your email will be open, your offer be read and your website visited?

Step 9. Congratulations you did it.

You set up your first website with content. Reward yourself for all the hard work. Take a day off from the internet world and go out with friends and loved ones. Enjoy the break and regain strength. Keep on posting, write more comments and add articles to article directories.

I am often asked:"Andrew, how do I keep focus, where do I find all the websites and I need more information?" Well, it's ... simple. Here is the nine easy steps to website success download page you can go right now, today, to get yourself started.

Now you got a website up and running for some time. By now you should have a good idea if the topic (niche) you have is what you really want to do or if this is more a hobby.
If it's more than a hobby, it is time to move on. Build a list, monetize, automate.

You might see by now, every step in this process can be outsourced or automated with some existing tool. From here on it is important what you really want. Make sure you do before you invest any more of your time and money.
