Sitz Bath Hemorrhoids Cure or False Hope

Are Sitz Bath Hemorrhoids Cure or false hope? Actually one of the most popular treatments for hemorrhoids are sitz baths. Normally with mild to moderate cases this will be all of the treatment that you will need.

But just what is a sitz bath you ask? A sitz bath is basically a warm water soak of the affected area, and is used to treat skin irritations or infections. Sometimes salt or baking soda is added to the warm water to assist in the healing process.

A sitz bath can be done in your bathtub or one of the traditional ways of having a specially designed container that sits over the bowl of a toilet. It is important that you keep the sitz bath container and the affected areas as clean as possible.

Adding To Your Sitz Bath Hemorrhoids Treatment

Normally using a sitz bath hemorrhoids treatment is very effective, it is important to remember that there are always going to be various degrees of hemorrhoid problems. Depending on your situation you might also have to consider other methods of treatment that you will have to incorporate as well.

One thing that doctors usually recommend along with a sitz bath is a healthy and balanced diet, and to making sure that you get a lot of fiber is incredibly important, as this will help to soften and regulate your bowel movements, thereby preventing constipation and your having to strain upon bowel movements.

Some people may also want to pick up some essential oils to mix in with there sitz bath water. This will help if your skin is swollen or tender, try using juniper and lavender oils for best results..

How To Use A Sitz Bath Hemorrhoids Treatment

1. A sitz bath hemorrhoids basin can be bought at any drug store for about $10. You can also find them at hospital pharmacies or medical supply stores. If you have just been treated at a hospital for a situation that requires a sitz bath, ask the staff at the hospital if you can have one before you go home.

2. Gather all of the supplies you will need and place them within reach of the place that you will be taking your sitz bath.

3. Place your sitz bath basin over your toilet bowl ensuring that it is sturdy and will not shift.

4.Put warm water in your sitz bath keeping in mind that the water temperature will feel cooler to your hands than it will to the rest of the body.

5. Many sitz baths will come with a solution bag and a tube. This bag is used by filling with water and hanging it up higher than the toilet. A tube runs from the solution bag into the sitz bath to provide a continuous flow of water. Use the clamp provided to control the water flow.

6. The more pricey sitz baths are made with a vent that prevents overfilling. The extra water will not overflow when you sit it in, but rather will empty into the toilet. If you are using a solution bag, the water will run continuously from the bag and out through the vents. If your sitz bath does not have a vent, be careful not to overfill it, you don't want water all over your bathroom floor.

7. If your doctor has recommended it, add salt to the water and soak in the sitz bath for about 10-20 minutes.

8. Use your sitz bath as often as you need to, generally doctors will recommend several times a day, but more will not hurt. Keep your sitz bath clean and thoroughly wash and dry after each use to help prevent the spread of germs.

Sitz Bath Hemorrhoids treatment Recipes

There are several recipes that I have found that you can add to your sitz bath hemorrhoids treatment. These recipes involve adding certain items such as essential oils or herbs to your sitz bath water.

The most common recipe that is used by hemorrhoid sufferers is Lavender Oil or Juniper Oil. Simply add about 20 drops of lavender oil and 20 drops of juniper oil to your sitz bath water. Sit in the sitz bath with your knee raised for 10-15 minutes three times a day. This position helps to bring more blood into your hemorrhoid area, which brings in more nutrients and pulls out toxic waste.

The herb Shepherd's Purse is also commonly used in a sitz bath. This herb is useful in treating hemorrhoids by reducing,

* Internal and external bleeding

* Reducing blood pressure

* Relieving hemorrhoids

* Repairing wounds

* Reducing prolapsed rectum

Place 1 oz of shepherd's purse in two quarts of distilled water and let it sit for 12 hours. The next day boil this mixture for 2-3 minutes and then strain it. Pour the liquid into a sitz tub or into a full bathtub. Stay in the tub for around 20 minutes and do this 2-3 times a day.

Witch Hazel

Prepare your basin by filling it wiith some warm distilled water. Add 1/4 cup of witch hazel liquid to the water. Sit in the basin for as long as you can and do it as often as you can. This will relieve your hemorrhoids in 3 to 4 days.

0r, another method is to freeze the witch hazel into small ice cubes, then wrap them with cheesecloth and press them against your hemorrhoids for 10-15 minutes every hour. This will reduce the pain and swelling.
