The six mistakes everyone makes in creating their mind control stories
Mistake 1: People tend to be pleasant and agreeable too much that it sabotages their quest for rapport
This can happen when there is the perception that one person is more important and therefore having higher status than another. One example is a scenario of a consultant and client relationship. The client goes to the consultant because he believes the consultant is an expert which brands high status and value to the consultant. But looking from the consultant point of view, the client is important and can pay him a lot of money for the project branding significance and importance to the client.
If the client gives his status away to the consultant, then the consultant can charge a much higher fee for a lot less work. And if the consultant gives away his status and power to the client, then the client can bargain for much lower fee for additional work load.
So it is important that both parties only needs to be nice and agreeable that it is not interrupting the process of rapport.

Mistake 2: Focusing too much on the outcome projects your neediness
People that are super nice sends the message that they want something. Desperation for the desired outcome can also be projected through agreeing to every demand of the other person; even the most outrageous ones that would have been declined to the average person. You typically see this happen to influential and powerful people like movie stars and million dollar athletes.
So why is it a bad thing? It triggers the other person's defensive mechanism, creating a sense that they'll owe you a great deal for your "kindness". Consciously they feel uncomfortable around you. Not everyone wants to be treated like a movie star if they honestly don't deserve it. This destroys the rapport that you're trying to create.

Mistake 3: Leading the other person to a result too quickly breaks rapport
Do you hate buying a new or used car? It's most likely because of the impression that a lot of sales people push their product too hard and try to close the sale as quickly as possible. With big purchases people want to invest more time in making their decisions and a pushy sales pitch can easily turn them off. Obviously both parties want the same thing. The salesman wants to sell you a car and you want to buy one. So it is crucial the customer believes he has breathing room to make a well thought out decision.
Mistake 4: Not being genuinely interested
It is quite easy for someone to notice a lack of genuine interest by another person. When this happens the other person just doesn't "buy it", the authenticity of your words. Authenticity is what generates true rapport. With the lack of genuine interest, you're actually sub-communicating the other person is boring which can easily be perceived as rudeness. To fix it is easy. Just be genuinely interested in the other person. View them as unique individuals that have an interesting story to tell about their life and you're there to share in that experience.
Mistake 5: Being inflexible in the relationship
The dynamics of the relationship is constantly changing. Some people have low self esteem and would always want to be in a more powerful status. So it may be important to take a submissive role temporarily to gain trust. Other times the person lowers their own value and put everyone around them on a pedestal. Being able to calibrate within the relationship dynamics continuously is vital to rapport success.
Mistake 6: Confusing between deep rapport and wide rapport
People getting started in hypnosis typically focuses on deep rapport which is spending hours discussing about one topic. But what happens when you meet the same person in a different venue like a bar, park, or party? There would be feelings of awkwardness. The rapport is not there because the situation is different and the previous deep rapport does not transfer to the new location. So what do you do in this scenario? You're already doing this but not realizing the power it has on you and your friends. Meet that person in multiple venues. Each time you meet them in a new venue; it creates a new conversation topic as well as creates memory of new rapport. If you can't meet them in different venues, you can still create wide rapport through hypnotic story or mind control story telling. Each story of friends and scenarios in different locations builds as powerful a rapport as the actual meet up with the same person.
