The Truth About Six Pack Abs
So do you want to know the truth about six pack abs?
You need to be lean enough that your abs will show. I know many people who do hundreds of situps, and who have really hard abs, but they are not visible because there is too much body fat covering them.
So...there is more to getting six pack abs than just doing 200 situps every day.
BUT...YOU DO WANT SIX PACK ABS...or else you would not be here...so I am going to help you get them, and as long as you do what I say and have the discipline to keep doing it, you will enjoy rock hard abs and many many compliments about them:)
If you are fortunate enough not to have body fat, then it is just a matter of doing abdominal excercises. Make a routine that you are comfortable with, start with 30 situps and 50 crunches a day, everyday. And every day, add one more to your sum, until after a month maybe you are doing 80 situps a day and 150 crunches.
There are of course lots of abdominal excercises that you can do besides situps and crunches, and I recommend that you check out these GREAT abdominal excersises.
One way is to get yourself a Swiss Ball, which is great for lots of excercises including abdominal ones.

Now let's address the issue if you have a little or a lot of body fat.
If you are really overweight, you should not primarily be concerned about getting six pack abs, but rather to lose that excess weight.
However, maybe the visual image of seeing yourself in boardshorts with a washboard stomach will be the motivation and inspiration for you to go right ahead and lose that weight.
I am by no means a nutritionist or expert fitness trainer, but I know that to lose weight you have to do two things: Eat less and healthier and exercise more.
This means cutting out all junk food, alcohol, cigarettes and if possible carbs like white bread and pasta.
Construct a meal plan (I don't like the word diet) consisting of a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts and white meats like fish and chicken.
Avoid red meat but if you really want a steak, go for ostrich:)
As for the exercise, you will need to do cardio to burn off the excess weight/fat.
Jogging, cycling, swimming or rowing are good exercises and if you are serious about it, try doing a variation of these exercises 4-5 times per week, building up to 30 minutes per day.
