Sixx:A.M. is a hard rock band formed in 2007 by Nikki Sixx, DJ Ashba, and James Michael. It is the side-project of Mötley Crüe bass guitarist Nikki Sixx. The group is best known for their song "Life Is Beautiful".
Sixx:A.M. is a combination of all of the member's names (Sixx, Ashba, Michael).

With this CD, Nikki Sixx, the undeniable heart and soul of Motley Crue, has released an album that clearly demonstrates why Motley Crue attained the success they did in the 80's and 90's. The success attained was certainly not because of Vince Neil's singing, Mick Mars' guitar playing, or even Tommy Lee's incredible drumming, NO, it was because of Nikki Sixx's songwriting, period. You've got to love the tortured artist, they are almost without exception the most inspired, creative and brilliant songwriters. I think it is very likely that without the talent of Nikki Sixx Motley Crue would have been just another 80's band, which few would currently even remember. But that is of course only a hypothetical argument, as Nikki was the founding member and there never would have been a Motley Crue without him.

Nikki Sixx has treated his fans and the memoir-consuming public to a real, live diary of a dope fiend. The Heroin Diaries recounts a dark year in the life of the Motley Crue bandleader/bassist. During 1987, the Crue was on top of the world with the Girls, Girls, Girls album release and world tour, but Nikki was hopelessly addicted to heroin (and coke, and pills, and casual sex), and living a caricature of the rock star lifestyle. (In perhaps the lowest moment of the book, he steals the girlfriend of a member of his management team. Well, he doesn't "steal" her. He meets her, wows her with his rock star style, bends her over some equipment backstage, and moves on. Without any regard for the relationship he just destroyed.)

The first single, "Saints of Los Angeles", was released in on April 11, started airing on radio stations on April 15, 2008, and was given further promotion through the music video game Rock Band, being released as downloadable content on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store on the same day. A video for the single was premiered at a press conference by the band on April 15. Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach, Josh Todd from Buckcherry, Chris Brown from Trapt, Marion Raven and James Michael from Sixx A.M. all make cameos at the end of the video.
