Ski-A-Rees | Water Ski Show Team

Sunday Performances on Sarasota Bay

Sailing Regattas and water ski shows add sparkle to Sarasota Bay located on the west coast of Florida USA. Drive across the Ringling Bridge from Sarasota to Her Islands and you often see a variety of water sports taking place.

Sarasota Ski-A-Rees dates back to the late 1950s when a small group of water-ski enthusiasts formed the non-profit organization to encourage youths to develop water skiing and safety skills. Adults helped educate, coach and supervise the younger members.

In 1958, Sarasota worked with Cypress Gardens to present a special water-ski show for the Sarasota County Pageant. The event prompted Ski-A-Rees to look locally for talent and to promote its own water ski shows.

Today, With support from the City of Sarasota, Ski-A-Rees continues to present weekly water ski shows during the fall and winter season, a more than 50-year tradition.

The Fall 2010 Ski-A-Rees show season begins Sunday afternoon and we look forward to publishing photographs of their amazing feats.
