What is a Skid Steer?

A skid steer is a vehicle Category: wiktionary - :maneuver|maneuvered by skid steering, a method of steering through braking or engaging tracks or wheels on one side of a vehicle. The skid steering vehicle is turned by generating differential velocity at the opposite sides of the vehicle, as the wheels or tracks are non-steerable (fixed position). Pivot steering is the most interesting maneuver of these vehicles in which they can change direction on the same place without going through any distance in forward or reverse direction, such as is seen in tanks.
One type type of skid steering vehicle, known as skid steer loaders or just skid loaders, are often referred to as "Bobcats." Bobcat is a popular brand name but is not the correct term for the equipment itself.

I got this for my son's 6th birthday and he loves it. The scoop lifts and lowers with a lever, and it drives forwards and backwards by touching buttons. It's a lot more fun (and bigger) than I expected. My 21 month old son loves it too. It hasn't really been tested in the sandbox yet, and after a few weeks you had to push the lever twice to make the scoop go all the way up. But it's still a lot of fun and both my boys still love playing with it.

We got this for my son's 3rd birthday and it was his favorite present. It has been "working" outside and in the sandbox for over a month. The "hydrolics" under the bucket came out... I think they're just a bit too short to go in and out smoothly. That is why durability gets 4 stars. However, the toy works well without the hydrolics connected. The quality is great otherwise.
