How to set goals

This is not really the thing I would most likely do if it were not a quest. But there are some goals I would like to achieve both in and out of Squidoo.

Because I respond to the Quests and have had such a good time here in Squidoo I am completing this and will add more as time goes on. Certainy it will be updated as goals are achieved.

There are also links to lenses that will help me achieve these goals - so be sure to visit them as well.

Goal Number One

Making a Mark

The first thing I want to do is concentrate on getting my manuscript published that deals with my research. For a long time it has been on my mind and now it must be accomplished.

There are many manuscripts around my study waiting for attention but I procrastinate. building lenses and making friends on Squidoo has taken precedent. But the lenses will help me as well as they deal with a lot of what is to be in the published book.

Goal Number 2

Undoing the Jigsaw

My house has a lot of clutter gathered over the years and poked into odd places and now it has to go. The piano no one plays is just one of the main items The bar that sits out on the patio that no one uses is a pain as it takes up so much room, There are old recliner chairs that also have to go. Then there are the cupboards full of clothes I once wore and which never fit me again. They have to go.

But my books! No, I don't care how much they clutter up the study they are my friends and they can stay.

Goal Number 3

Granny on the computer

Squidoo is my great passion lately and I have almost given up my life for it, but it is telling on me. My eyes are straining under the effect of being on the computer so much and my family hardly sees me now. So goal number 3 is to spend more time with my family, especially my grand children. They are growing up fast and I know how much I mean to them so I will have to just be there for them more than I have in the last couple of years.

My problem is how can I give up the computer when I want to edit manuscripts and publish books. That's something I have yet to work out.

Goal Number 4

The Badge

This is a hard one as I want to write more lenses. Last year I received 3 LOTD's and 16 purple stars and this year I want more. I have 4 purple stars so far this year, thanks to everyone who has paid one forward in my direction. I wish I had a hundred pay forwards to give out as so meny squids are doing great lenses that they all deserve purple stars.

So my goal here this year wil be to help as many squids as I can build great lenses and achieve high awards for them. To help with that I have written this lens and there are a couple more on the way. That's what I need too - more time to build lenses. But I also want to start a couple of groups and have taken steps towards that goal as well.

Perhaps I can get another 16 purple stars or maybe 18, who knows but maybe I can help someone else achieve that many - here's hoping. Perhaps too I will get another 3 LOTD's and help at least 3 others to do the same. Its hard to expect more than that as there are so few to go around so I would consider myself blessed if this goal is reached.

Goal Number 5

Make Friends and be more Sociable

being anti-ocial

Because I am largely confined to my study most of the time this is an area I have neglected. The social side of me has gone right out the window, especially now that I have so many friends on Squidoo and in other forums.

Age has wearied theee old bones of mine and I don't get enough exercise. So that's my real goal here. Exercise, loose weight and become more fit. One thing I know for a fact we are not able to do the things we used to do as time catches up with us. Especially when one site on one's posterior most of the day doing lenses.

My problem is not being interested in the things most people my age would be looking forward to. But because my life has been so full and has seen me accomplish so much it is comfortable for me to sit back and do what I enjoy the most - writing. Writers are known to be anti-social because they cannot afford to have their minds interfered with - LOL

Good to see that you've put together a set of practical goals for yourself to achieve in 2011. It's always good to put things down in writing because it does help us keep track of it and bring about accountability and some organization to our lives. Wishing you the best, Norma, as your work towards your goals! :)
