Skiing Tips For Beginners

OK, you may not want to be like those guys in the picture but everyone starts somewhere and life is always easier with a helping hand. Skiing and snowboarding are great fun but a little caution and preparation before you hit the slopes will make your early experiences that much more enjoyable.

That is what these skiing tips for beginners are all about. Happy SKiing

Skiing Tips For Beginners

Best advice for a great time skiing

If you are a beginner or have beginners and /or children in your party these tips may be useful. Note a beginner is considered to be someone with about 4 weeks worth of skiing time.

Hire your equipment. It should be of good quality and fit you correctly of course but there is always the chance you may not like it so buying would be an expensive mistake. Also you get to try differnent types before you decide on your purchase. Additionally, children grow rapidly from one season to the next!

Remember too that your normal winter clothing may be insufficient for a day on the slopes so you may need to hire (or borrow from friends and family if possible) gloves, sunglasses/goggles, fleeces, waterproof jackets and tousers and a helmet. You will be grateful for these items especially when you fall over which you will; a lot to begin with! Finally, like Shrek you need layers! In this case thermal layers will keep you warmest.

Even though you are covered up protect your skin from the sun and the wind. Snow reflects the suns rays so stock up with a strong factor sun cream! You may get tanned and it will also add an extra layer against the cold wind.

Look for an appropriate resort, as not all places cater for the novices and children. Skiing and snowboarding is great fun but can also be dangerous and we do not want accidents. These do occur and particularly where there is not enough room for the beginners. Make sure there are plenty of nursery slopes and as you progress, gentle pistes.
