Rejuvenating Your Skin with Skin Peels
Chances are, you've heard of skin peel treatment and have perhaps considered using skin peels to rejuvenate and refresh your skin. But how do skin peel treatments work? Are they really that effective, and are there any side effects? Find out the facts here before considering whether you should opt for skin peel treatment yourself.
Types of Skin Peel Treatment
There are several types of skin peel treatment available, but the two most commonly used today are glycolic skin peel and TCA peels. These treatments use different chemicals and fruit acids to rejuvenate the skin, with glycolic peel being slightly milder than TCA peel. Glycolic Skin Peel
Glycolic acid is derived from sugar cane. Glycolic skin peels use this gentle acid to slough dead skin cells and other impurities from the skin's surface and promote the growth of new, healthy skin. After a course of treatments with glycolic peel - normally once a week over a period of 6-8 weeks - the skin is visibly younger and healthier.
Glycolic skin peel is a natural skin peel treatment and does not normally produce any side effects, if properly administered at a professional beauty clinic. However, because of the nature of the chemicals in the skin peel, you should not undergo glycolic skin peel treatment if you have been taking accutane medication in the last 12 months, or if you have ever suffered from kidney failure. You should also avoid any kind of skin peel treatment if you have any open wounds, sores, or any other problems with skin health.

TCA Peels
TCA peel is a slightly stronger skin peel treatment than glycolic acid, which works to remove impurities from the skin at a deeper level. It can be applied to the skin of the face or the hands to improve the overall health of the skin and make it look younger.
TCA peel works by removing the upper layers of the skin, smoothing it out to reduce wrinkles and lines. The skin peel treatment is applied for 15 minutes to half an hour. The skin will begin to feel more taut and healthy almost immediately. Over the next few days, the top layers of skin will dry up and peel off, revealing the younger and fresher skin beneath.
After treatment with TCA peel your skin will be more sensitive to sunlight for 6-8 weeks. During this time you should take care to keep the skin protected from the sun with hats and sun cream of SPF30 or higher. TCA peels have not been found to have any strong side effects.
