Skin Problems?

Do you have problems with such things as eczema, psoriasis, acne, or just rashes in general? This is a page dedicated to things I've personally tried and that have worked, because I've had all these problems myself and want to get the word out on what has worked for me!

These are all natural remedies and will hopefully save a trip to the doctor. However, I'm not a medical professional (yet), but these are things that have helped me or I've heard help. If you have any other tips please let me know.

Glycerin Soap

I've heard of allergies to this, so don't use it if you are allergic!! But this stuff is great, and I'll swear by it. My favorite place to get it is from Art of Soap, a local place and there's a link below. Another great place to pick some up is on etsy.com. There's links below as well for this!
This stuff will clear up almost any acne, eczema or rashes in general.

CO Bigelow Chapped Hands Remedy

For Psoriasis. Yes that's right, hand creme for any spot of psoriasis on your skin! It's about $14 dollar a tube at any Bath and Body Works, but you only use a tiny amount on the spot and it will work within 2 days. It did for me and I had tried everything under the sun (well almost), to clear up my psoriasis spot. The Glycerin soap helped, but as far as making the rashes go away completely, this creme did it.

Cayenne Pepper

Now unless you just love that burning taste of ground up pepper in your mouth, I'd suggest pills.
Personally I haven't tried this, but I've heard that it does wonders for your skin. If anyone out there has tried this, let me know, I'm curious to as if it works.
You can pick up Cayenne Pepper supplements and pills at any health food store.

Did you know that Cayenne Pepper is associated with good heart health as well? There is an article below in the links list that discusses this.
So far no reports of side effects of too much Cayenne has been reported other than the heat and burning sensation from the taste.

Aloe Vera

Great for eczema! What is even better than just the gel you can get at Wal-Mart is having an Aloe Vera plant. They're so easy to take care of, and even if your horrible at gardening, just ignore this Cactus for the most part. All you have to do is snap off a piece, split it open, and apply the goozing stuff on your skin.
One of my favorite Aloe Vera products is by Jason. I believe Wal-Mart carries it as well, but this is another easily found at Health food stores product.

Pine Tar

So I just found out about this stuff. There is a link below under the etsy stores about this. Turns out many have tried pine tar soap and their skin has healed right up!
This is another product I haven't tried and won't be able to since I'm highly allergic to pine and it would probably give me hives. But if you've tried let us know in the guestbook! You can read even more information in her description of this soap.

Shea Butter

This is a good moisturizer for your skin. It is a little more oily than most lotions though and if you have dogs, they seem to love to lick all the lotion right off!
This is good for dry skin especially. I haven't had luck with it working on rashes, however for some it does. It all depends on skin types.
Many of the etsy stores below have shea butter cremes, lotions, and soaps!
If you're skin is oily, I wouldn't recommend this product though.

Oatmeal Soap

Yummy oatmeal!
Ok, if you used those packets you can pick up at drugstores and dump into your bath, please don't eat the clumps of oatmeal that didn't disolve!
There are many oatmeal soaps out there so you don't have to mess with that packet goopy stuff anymore. This works wonders with dry skin as well and eczema! It puts moisture back into your skin and makes you feel all soft.
There's many etsy store links below that carry oatmeal soaps.

Fish Oils

Not only are these great for your heart, metabolism, and all sort of things, but it helps with your skin! I recommend Carlson's brand because you don't get that fishy belch like with some. You can easily pick these up at health food stores and you only have to take one a day! These are relatively cheap too.

Seafood is a great way to get fish oils too. However, Tilapia in big quantaties isn't as good for you. For some reason this fish has more Omega 6's than you need and too much Omega 6 is bad for you. The Linoleic Acid part of Omega 6 is the bad part of it. The "good" part is the Gamma Linolenic Acid. There are a range of health problems that can occur with too much of Omega-6. But don't completely avoid this cheaper fish, I just wouldn't suggest eating it every single day.

Vasoline

This has been used for eczema and psoriasis. I'm not sure why this works but I've heard from a few people it has.

Psoriasis

Psorasis is the pits. I've had problems with it, but not to the extent that many have had. Basically what it is, is your skin cells reproduce too fast and so they shed fast, and it causes a rash scaley looking, creepy crawling thing on your skin. You can't catch it from others or anything like that, so it's not contagious.
Smoking, Obesity, Stress, and other medical contitions (especially immune disorders) can cause psoriasis to be worse.
Mine is not dibilitating, but it is a pain and itchy! However, I've found two things that have helped clear it right up. (DISCLAIMER: my psoriasis was not to the extent that I needed to be on prescribed medication)

Eczema

Oh man, I hated my skin when I was a kid because of this stupid stuff!! Any time my allergies acted up, I broke out in rashes delux!
I've since grown out of it for the most part, but once in awhile (such as during Spring) I'll have rashes.
Turns out it's an immune response dealing with your T-Cells. There's links below with more medical information. But basically, you get rashes because your system is aggravated at something.

Acne

Honestly, I'm very very lucky with acne, I never really had problems except when really stressed out for those finals in school! But the Glycerin soaps do wonders!
(I don't know as much about this since I haven't had to deal with it as much but here's a little that I do know!)
Have you ever tried toothpaste? A friend and I did once and all we ended up with was crusty minty stuff on our face and that zit was still there.
I've heard a lot of talk about Proactive, and haven't seen results with my friends that have tried it. I gave them some extra soaps I had and they haven't turned back. Links below!

Skin Firming/Stretch Marks

Anyone else out there have stretch marks even if you've never been pregnant? Yup.
1. Cocoa Butter. Helps reduce the site of stretch marks. You can pick this up at Bath and Body Works as well. It's in a little round container and says Cocoa Butter really big on it. It's pretty good stuff and smells great!
2. Coconut Butter. I've been using this lately and it helps firm skin and reduce getting stretch marks. Plus, it smells yummy! Health food stores generally dont' carry the butter, they can order it though!

Interesting lens. Shea butter is a very good moisturiser for the skin, and it works on rashes too. You just have to get the grade A butter and apply it for long enough. Make sure it is Raw Shea Butter

Maybe I have overlooked it but I can't seem to find nothing for warts....I'm looking for a wart removal recipe to help me get rid of these ugly protrusions! Maybe you can add some for warts here. Anyway, you have great links and I'm really grateful you've shared it to the rest of the world! 5 stars!
