Sleep, sleep, sleep
We all know the problems associated with poor quality sleep and sleep deprivation--the lack of energy, inability to concentrate, poor attitude, impatience, inattention, headaches, ADHD, depression, psychological disturbances and disorders, and the list goes on and on.
We were designed to get deep restorative sleep in order to regenerate, rejuvenate, and refresh our bodies and our mind.
With modern interruptions, we are wrecking our health through poor sleep and sleep deprivation.
It is literally torture when you do not sleep well. Watch the two short videos below and discover great sleep!

The more you know, the better your health

The future generations are dependent upon our society getting sleep right. We must understand better how are bodies work and what they need to stay healthy, if we are going to survive as a species. This is the first generation whose life-expectancy is less than their parents! GREAT SLEEP IS VITAL TO OUR SURVIVAL.
SLEEP IS VITAL TO BRAIN HEALTH and CELLULAR HEALTH.
At the turn of the Century, (early 1900s), the average person slept 9 hours a day and lived in rhythm with the universe. There was no electricity, so people would rise and fall with the sun. No one was deficient in Vitamin D3 because everyone was exposed to plenty of fresh air and sunshine every day. Today, Vitamin D3 deficiency is rampant, even 1/3rd of children are deficient. Why? Because of the cancer scare-chemical researchers and chemical companies did not want to link cancer to the true culprit (the astronomically increasing number of chemicals in our society), so they blamed the sun (an entity who could not be sued or held accountable) rather than talk about the chemicals in the tanning oils and sun lotions we lathered on our largest organ, (our skin), and environmental toxins we are now exposed to in the great outdoors. We should have arrested the chemicals, rather than shun the sun. The processes stimulated by 30 minutes of morning sun washing over our full bodies are essential for good health and wellbeing.
With the dawn of electricity, factory work, and television, we continued to sleep less and less. Now, with the computers and Internet, we are sleeping less than 7 hours a night! The vital time for sleep is between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. This is the critical time when our bodies are healing, regenerating, and repairing the damage from the day. During this critical time, we must be in deep sleep and our bodies must be surrounded by natural forces for healing-vitamins and minerals necessary for repair and their complimentary enzymes; clean, fresh, negative ionized air; well hydration with optimized hexagonal PiMag water; and the magnetic, infrared, and negative ionic energies of the natural earth environment.
Discover great sleep with two of the latest Nikken innovations and advancements for a Wellness Home: RAM Technology and the Naturest Sleep System.
Naturest - The New Standard for a Superior Sleep Environment
"Healthy sleep has been empirically proven to be the single most important determinant in predicting longevity, more important than diet, exercise or heredity..." - William C. Dement, MD, PhD.
For more than a decade, Lynn Larson has been Director of the American Sleep Research Institute or ASRI, a leading research facility that studies sleep normalcy and demonstrates the many important physical and mental benefits of sleep. The ASRI seal of approval certifies that a mattress was tested and approved by the American Sleep Research Institute. "If you're going to tell consumers that they need to experience quality sleep, then you have to know first hand what that is." explains Lynn.
A Nikken Kenko Naturest Sleep System combines a number of revolutionary features designed to help you experience the processes of physical and mental recharging that form the basis of sleep.
No other product or system has ever brought together this unique set of technologies and materials, that are intended to make your surroundings more naturally conducive to healthy, restful sleeping.
The organic whole food nutritionals, the optimized hexagonal PiMag water, and the clean, fresh, negative ionized air can be discovered by clicking the links at the end of the lens. Right now, we want to explore the sleep system where you are surrounded by a cocoon of wellness-magnetic, far infrared, and negative ions. If the magnetic force field of the earth and the science of healing with magnets are new to you, click on the Magnets for Health link at the end of this lens for the correct information.

This company is now in over 30 countries and has its international corporate headquarters in Irvine, California. However, its roots go back to Japan and the concept of Kenzen and Kenko. Take time to watch the videos on the rich history and compelling vision of this leading global wellness company.
Back to sleep, because that is what you are discovering now.
Signs that you may be suffering from sleep deprivation:
*Have trouble falling asleep?
*Go to sleep easily but then wake up repeatedly during the night?
*Have a problem going back to sleep if you do wake up?
*Find it hard to drag yourself out of bed in the morning?
*Feel tired throughout the day?
*Snore or suffer from sleep apnea, a common condition in which you have
pauses in breathing or take shallow breaths while you sleep?
Chronic sleep deprivation is associated with a number of disorders.
Here are just a few of the disorders you can avoid or help with proper sleep:
*Depression
*Anxiety
*Attention Deficit Disorder
*Alzheimer's disease
*Parkinson's disease
*Stroke
*Psychosis
When you don't get enough sleep:
*You feel tired in the workplace, which impairs your performance.
*You're more likely to be in an unfriendly mood, leading to issues with
co-workers, customers, employers, or employees.
*Your accuracy declines sharply.
Sleep deprivation can slow your reaction time, cloud your judgment, affect your vision, impair your brain processing, and increase aggressive behavior.
When you don't get enough sleep, you'll tend to want more caffeine and junk food, smoke more, exercise less, and drink more alcohol.
Your brain controls so much of your health and wellbeing. Sleep deprivation decreases blood flow to your brain, and without adequate sleep, your brain cells don't have the chance to repair themselves. Your brain function becomes impaired and your health and wellbeing suffer and decline.
Sleep studies prove that if you get less than seven hours of sleep a night, you have lower activity in your temporal lobes. This limits your ability to pay attention, learn, solve problems, and remember important information. Great sleep is so critical for children; so, remember the children in your life as you discover great sleep.
Medical studies have established a connection between lack of sleep and weight gain or obesity. This is true not only for adults but also for children. Lack of adequate deep sleep literally stunts the growth in young people. There are two hormones--LEPTIN and GHRELIN--that are regulated by sleep and involved in appetite. Studies have linked leptin levels to the development of diabetes.
One study took healthy college students and at the end of just one week of sleep deprivation, they started exhibiting test results indicating the development of diabetes.
Sleep deprivation has also proven to reduce your immunity by 30% with just one night of bad sleep. Is there any wonder that we are becoming sicker and sicker as a society and becoming more and more susceptible to disease, flu, and cancer when we are chronically sleep deprived?
One research study proved that sleep deprivation actually makes you choose junk carbs such as candy, cookies, and cake over more healthy fruit, vegetables, or dairy products. Think of the urge of late night snacking and the types of food one goes for rather than sleep. Your body is not hungry, it is tired!
A critical vicious cycle caused by sleep deprivation is the psychological complications caused by chronic sleep deprivation. Many easily recognize the bad mood caused by lack of sleep, but few understand and recognize the psychological disorders and conditions caused by chronic sleep loss. Your body does not have a chemical deficiency, it has a sleep deficiency! So often people turn to medical chemicals rather than address the true underlying cause of psychological disturbances.
Many conditions can be alleviated with great sleep. Many people with sleep disorders-especially children-do not know that is the cause. Think of all the medical chemicals for depression, ADHD, ADD, bi-polar, psychosis, manic-depression, anger management, rage disorder, etc. How many times do people take medical chemicals for a "chemical imbalance" caused by lack of great sleep? How many people are placed on anti-depressants and ADD and ADHD chemicals when all they need is some great sleep?
When you are tired, you just do not feel well and you are not yourself. When you are sleepy, you are more likely to skip family events or fail to participate in healthy recreational and social activities. You will miss out on these vital social and intimate connections that keep your brain healthy. Yes, research shows that a lack of social connections and bonding can speed up your brain's aging
process-and thereby, the body's aging process.
We are already aware if the dangers and hazards caused by sleepy drivers. Every day, millions of people hit the road while feeling drowsy. In fact, in a recent poll, 28% of respondents admitted to nodding off or falling asleep behind the wheel. That is about 1 out of 3 drivers! About 5,500 people in the United States die each year because of driver fatigue. That is over 5,000 people every year!
Isn't it time to take action? Discover great sleep, and then pass it on!

- Most people only realize the importance of sleep only when they can't sleep enough. I'm sure every one of us had times when we did not allocate enough time for sleeping. The important thing is to not deprive ourselves from a good night sleep on the long term. Thank you for all the great information.

- Thank you. It breaks my heart to see people suffering through symptoms of stress and lack of deep restorative sleep. They are often led to believe they have to take medication. More often than not, the symptoms from lack of meaningful sleep become severe enough to warrant a psychological diagnosis leading to years and thousands of dollars worth of treatment. Skepticism is good, but not to the point of no return. Thank you again for your comments.
