What's Causing Your Insomnia
Insomnia really isn't much of a party after all. Every day life doesn't come to a complete stop because you're having trouble sleeping. So your best bet is to figure out why you have it and what's causing it and how's the best way to fix it.
What home remedies can help or should you see your doctor? There's quite a few reasons for insomnia or it just might even be sleep apnea
Insomnia
what is it exactly?

Insomnia is a symptom of any of several sleep disorders, characterized by persistent difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep despite the opportunity. Insomnia is a symptom, not a stand-alone diagnosis or a disease. By definition, insomnia is "difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep, or both" and it may be due to inadequate quality or quantity of sleep. It is typically followed by functional...
Traditional Meds or Natural Cures
which do you prefer?
Would you sooner head to the doctor's office for prescribed drugs with a million and one side affects with it or would you prefer the natural way, with natural remedies? Personally, I'd go the natural way.
First tho you have to figure out what's causing it. Stress? Something you're eating? or is it Sleep Apnea? If it's stress related or something you're eating, I'd suggest:
- Something along the lines of Yoga, Meditation or even a nice evening walk where you can relax and forget the day's troubles.
- Keep a log of what you're eating and drinking thru out the day. Remember how much caffine you're taking in. Cause ya know those 2 cups of coffee you had before you even left the house and oh I might as well stop at Timmie's on my way and grab a coffee and of course don't forget that oh sooooo yummy and delicious brownie you had for lunch.....all my have a factor in it as well.
- Keep a log of when you're feeling stressed too. As soon as you start to get agitated, write it down as to what you were doing and what's making you feel this way.
- Keep a diary of your exercise, are you getting enough of it or does that couch look way too inviting after sitting at a desk all day long and that long drive home?
- Are you getting the right vitamins you need?

A Point to Stress RE: Doctors
I'm not advocating avoiding the doctor on this one by any means! You just may have a serious problem such as sleep apnea and may be in need of medical attention. So by all means don't hesitate to head to the doc's if you think you need it.

Home Spa
when the real thing isn't available

Not everyone can afford to run off to an expensive Spa whenever the mood strikes them or the stress gets too built up. So let's pretend you're in your own little world in your bathroom. Tuck the kids in bed, give your husband the remote (it'll keep him occupied for hours), put the cat in the laundary room and the dog in the kennel, take your glass of wine (or cider or whatever you'd like to help you relax), lock the bathroom door, fill the tub up with nice hot water and your favorite bubble bath or favorite scented oil, make sure you've already gotten the cushions from the lawn chair and put them in your tub too, make sure you have your pillow to lean back on, turn the lights off, the soundspa on, light the candles and slip into the tub. Lay back and relax, take yourself to your happy place, you know that place you go to where
there's no stress and no troubles, nothing to do except relax and enjoy. This would be a great time to practice the yoga breathing too.....breath in for 5 and breath out for 5. Sip your wine listen to the sounds of whatever you want cause there's nothing in the moment to worry you!! Even after you get out of the tub, hopefully there's still enough steam in the room so you can lay down on the floor and enjoy the steam. So leave the candles going and the soundspa on too, might as well enjoy them while you can.Good thing you stored that beaded back massager in the linen closest instead of the trunk of the car. Now lather the mosturizer all over yourself, lay down a towel, put the massager on top, lay back and relax until the steams all gone. Wrap yourself in a nice warm, fuzzy terry cloth robe, grab the neck massager from the microwave you've just warmed up and head off to bed. With any luck you'll sleep like a baby!
Some great Fragrances
depending on your moods
If you're anything like me, the fragrances I like depends on my mood at the time. Mainly I like lavender or lilac scents but sometimes you need a little naughtier frangrance. To help relieve stress lavender, vanilla or bergamot are good. To help energize and uplift citrus, grapefruit, lemon or pine work excellent. To feel more sensual musk, sandalwood, amber or jasmine do the trick, to name a few.

Everyone has that one little corner of their house, whether it's a corner in the guest bedroom or your own bedroom or in the living room, that you're just not sure what to do with. Claim it as your own little world!! I have one in my own bedroom, in this little corner is my comfy arm chair, some plants, a couple of small table top fountains, my scented candles, an oil burner, my favorite books and a cd player. When my children were younger they would even join in my own little world but one of the rules were, none of the normal tattling about your sister or complaining about the kids or teachers at school, just some good old fashioned Peter Pan day dreaming time! Now that my kids are older and the corner is all my own, I let Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra or even Roger Whittaker join me instead.
