How To Get a Better Night's Sleep

For many of us, getting a quality night's sleep would be a dream come true. For others, getting too much sleep can interfere with the daily routine. What amount of sleep is the right amount? What is the importance of deep sleep? Can we sleep less and still maintain a healthy and fulfilling life? What would you do with that extra time during the day? How can we increase our energy levels so that we're more productive? What's best - sleep quality or quantity?

These plus many more questions are addressed here. Plus learn more about the best program on the market to get your night back on track and start sleeping better.

What Amount of Sleep is the Right Amount?

(Hint: It Depends)

Did you know that many successful, wealthy folks only sleep 4-5 hours a night? Thomas Edison, Donald Trump, and Margaret Thatcher are on that list. Is that amount of sleep healthy for everyone? Probably not. But, if you could learn to sleep less and have more energy in the waking hours, there's no telling what you could accomplish.

The truth is that the right amount of sleep differs by individual. Your lifestyle and genetic makeup determine the amount. However, the amount of quality sleep (deep sleep) you need is approximately 2 hours. Further, if 2 hours is all you need, it doesn't matter how many total hours you get in each of the 5 stages of sleep.

Improve the Quality of Your Sleep

A Few Tips

There are several factors that contribute to better sleep. Your personal circadian rhythm, how many hours of sleep you need, and "sleep hygiene" are all important parts of the whole. Fit them together properly for yourself, and sleep soundly. Eventually you may discover that you don't need as much sleep as you thought and get an extra waking hour or two per day to do with as you please.

1. Avoid anything other than sleep and nookie in the bed
2. Minimize external stimuli - noise, light, temperature
3. No liquids after 8PM
4. Avoid naps
5. No bright light if you need to get up
6. No stimulants (caffeine/nicotine) or depressants (alcohol)
7. Have a protein snack

Give Your Energy Levels a Boost!

(Naturally, of course.)

3:17PM - it was the time that I used to look at the clock on my computer every day during the work week. It was the time that signified that I was running on fumes. My energy levels plummeted and my motivation to work disappeared. It took every ounce of willpower not to crawl under my desk and take a nap. If you are like I was you also try to baby-step through the rest of the day. You want to order out because you don't have the energy to make dinner and you let the TV keep the kids occupied. There's a sink full of dishes that you skip doing just so you can crawl into bed for what you hope is a good night sleep, just to start all over again the next day. This probably sounds familiar, right?

The good news is that you don't have to remain tired and unproductive. There are several easy, natural ways to increase your energy levels and break out of the cycle of lethargy that binds you. Read on to see a few of the small and simple steps you can take to recharge and reclaim your life.

1. Eat protein for a quick pick me up
2. Reduce sugar and caffeine
3. Get quality sleep
4. Don't work ALL the time
5. Maintain emotional wellness

Great Ways to Fall Asleep Fast

4 Quick Tricks

If you lead a hectic or stressful life, falling asleep can be rough. Your brain is running a mile a minute and you can't seem to slow it down. It seems you could lay there for hours and ruminate about the day's events. Eventually, you look over at the alarm clock that reads 2:36AM and you stress even more because there's only 4 more hours to try and get at least some sleep. Sounds familiar, right?

It doesn't have to be this way. You can put off all of the day's ills and relax yourself into a peaceful night's sleep without using over-the-counter sleep aids or supplements. Here are five tricks that have helped many folks fall asleep fast:

1. Make sure you're comfortable.
2. Try reverse psychology. Instead of trying to fall asleep, try to stay awake.
3. Outline a book in your mind.
4. Try some ambient noise.
