Slot cars are scale models used for racing on tracks with a groove or slot. The slot is used as a guide for the cars. The track is electrically-powered. A hand-held controller or throttle is used to set the level of power delivered to the electric motor hidden within the car. Each car runs on a separate lane, with its own slot. The challenge in racing slot cars comes in taking curves at the highest speed that will not cause the car to lose its grip on the track and spin sideways or 'deslot' and go flying spectacularly.
