Birthday Slumber Party

Looking for slumber party or birthday party ideas? How about a combination of the two? Well, a great kids party starts with great party ideas. Here are a few to start the creative juices flowing and give a party those kids won't forget.
Birthday parties are fun for kids and slumber parties are fun for kids. Combine the two for twice the fun without you the parent going crazy. Planning is the key. It is quite common nowadays for both boys and girls to have sleepovers and a birthday slumber party could be just the thing for your pre-teens.

Planning

My first kid birthday slumber party was a major disaster because I did not plan properly, but I have had several slumber parties over the years that have turned out to be great successes. The first thing I do now is plan. I pick the theme, order the invitations, and then go through my check list for the all important items I am going to need.

The daytime will be reserved for the big birthday bash where you can invite a lot of children and the activities focuses around clowns, magicians, and face painting, and piñatas.
The evening will be reserved for a select few kids who will be watching movies, telling stories, playing music, playing board games or playing video games.

Choosing the right children is important. A child that does not get along well with others could spell trouble. It might be ok to have overactive kids at the daytime festivities, with the parents nearby, but you might not want to have that same child overnight without the parents around.

You have to decide if you want to limit the list of children so that those at the daytime party are the same at the slumber party. This way you don't have an awkward situation where you have to turn down a kid to the slumber party because you don't have the accommodations.

Girls
Think of "sugar and spice and everything nice" themes (Disney characters, princesses, Barbie, Hannah Montana, super model dress up, etc.). If your kid likes to sing, try a karaoke party.

Baking cookies or brownies can be a fun activity that will engage the girls. Have each girl assigned to a specific baking task and have each take turns making her own cookie design.

Boys
When planning for activities for an all boys slumber party think video games around sports or superheroes. Fighting video games go over real big with boys, especially when they are competing against each other. But you should have rules: the loser of the tournament will have to relinquish the controller to the next kid in line. This will avoid arguments of who is next.

So Take lots of pictures, relax and enjoy the kids

TOP BIRTHDAY PARTY TIPS

TOP BIRTHDAY PARTY TIPS

TOP BIRTHDAY PARTY TIPS
  1. Plan Early -send invitations at least 2 weeks in advance.
  2. Power up the batteries on the camera or camcorder.
  3. Find out if any of the kids have allergies and to what
  4. The younger the kids, the shorter the party. Average time is about 2 hours for age 2 to 5.
  5. Have a back up plan for outdoor party if it rains.
  6. Don't have any noise makers. Noise makers will annoy the adults and cause the kids to fight over it.

Your List for the Party

Party List
Start planning early.
Pick a theme.
Choose a location for the party.
Write the guest list.
Send invitations.
Decorate the party place.
Plan a winning menu.
Welcome guests with a craft project.
Choose party games.
Select favors and prizes.
Send thank-you notes.

Check list for a slumber party:
*Extra linens, pillows, blankets, and miscellaneous bedding
*Back-up toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, hair accessories
*Have lots of drinks but limit the caffeine or they will be bouncing off the wall all night.
*Have snacks and more snacks: chips, cookies, ice cream cup cakes. How about a cookie and brownie baking party (If you are adventurous and have a big enough kitchen). If you have a small group, allocate each child with a specific job (one will pour the mix, one will stir the batter, etc.)
*Pre-planned themed activities.
*Have a few board games ready.
*Age-appropriate movie.
*Disposable plastic cups, plates, silverware for easier cleanup.
*Think about keeping the number of guests small.
*Everyone knows that a sleepover party is about anything but sleep--playing music, watching videos, telling stories...so be prepared to be up late.

Keep a positive attitude and a sense of adventure with the kids. Relax and enjoy!

Hosting A Party For Your Teens

Choose a theme together with your teen. Listen to your teen what he/she wants to have in her/his party. When having difficulties in choosing the theme, you both can look on the internet for teen party ideas. Or here are some suggestions to help you get you started:

1. Pool steak barbeque or beach party. If you have a pool at home, this can be a great idea. To imitate a beach scene, you can cover certain areas of your yard with white sand and serve refreshments along with making a barbeque. Here, you can create seashells attached with thin ropes and tags carrying your party details.

2. Beads and crafts party. For teen girls who love accessories, a beading party can be a lot of fun. Consider providing trays of different beads and craft materials as well as books on beading so teens can be very creative with their necklaces and bracelets. Each gets to take home their finished bracelets after.

Serve pizza and cold drinks or fruit shakes to satisfy their hunger after all that work!

3. Home movie theme. You can have movie ticket reproductions as invitations and serve popcorn and colas. Rent some videos and set your living room so that it imitates the inside of a movie house. Don't forget to close the windows and blinds to make the room as dark as possible.

4. Arabian inspired party theme. This is great during the evening. Decorate the yard with torches and spread all creatively in certain areas. Teens can dress up as Arabian prince and princesses. Serve salads, pita bread and roast chicken. Provide a small tent with a "fortune teller" inside. Belly dancers can add excitement to the occasion.

5. Baseball inspired party theme. Rent out baseball videos and ask the guests to come in their favorite baseball shirts. Set out different booths, each serving different types of food such as hotdogs, popcorn, chili dogs, cotton candy, nachos and drinks. Baseball caps are excellent give-aways!

6. Luau. Teens can come in their Hawaiian costumes. The party host can welcome her guests with a lei. Serve lots of fruits, especially pineapples and coconut juice if available. Set the mood with Hawaiian music or drum beats. Hula dancers can create a lot of enthusiasm among guests.

Whatever theme you choose, make sure that your area can accommodate your desired guest list. Plan ahead and enjoy watching your teen delight in the party you both had planned!

Kiddie Games

Kiddie Games for Kiddie Fun!

What can be more enjoyable than a kiddie party? All those fun foods, party hats and mascots that make children's parties so much fun! But the fun aggrandizes the moment everyone starts with the games!

What are the best games for these cute kiddie parties? Read up and get some ideas so the next time you throw a party for your five-year-old, it will be a blast!

1. Limbo.

An upbeat music, a limbo stick and the kids just go together. The limbo master must keep his body from sticking to the stick while he is limbo-ing.

2. Balloon Target

This is fun because upon blowing up a balloon, the kid allows it to deflate and hit a target!

3. Blind Cow

This is like a guessing game wherein within a circle, the kids listen to a bell and find out where it is.

4. Charades

Let the kids act out the names of cartoon characters, persons or animals and make sure they don't talk!

5. Copycat

This is one silly game as the children simply copy each other's movements.

6. Creepy Crawlies

This is another guessing game in which a kid acts out a kind of insect and everyone guesses what insect it is.

7. Dress Up Relay

This is a relay race where the kids get to dress up in hilarious clothes and race against each other to the finish line.

8. Freeze Tag

This is a game of tag when the kid does not move or is "frozen" in his place.

9. Ha Ha Ha

The rule of this game is simple: laugh until everyone does!

10. Heads Up Seven Up

This is a guessing game intended for huge groups of kids.

11. Hide and Seek

Who does not know how to play this game? Kids love hiding and having someone seek for them!

12. I Love

This game solicits "aww" because the kids are asked to think of all the things they love.

13. Kick The Can

This game is a fusion of hide-and-seek and tag.

14. Mother May I

This is the game for kids where they ask their "mother" to take funny steps before they get tagged.

15. Pinata Party

Every kid loves a pinata party! They just have to break the pinata open to get all those candies inside.

16. Sock Mania

This is where kids put as many socks as possible on one foot.

Make sure every kid plays these games and the party will surely get a hundred times better and crazier!
