Here's a Mediterranean small patio with pergola that is painted in an Aegean Blue or a brilliant Cerulean Blue. This is a patio in FIrostefani village, Santorini (Greece). Sure makes you want to get away to a Mediterranean destination. I hear Greece would be pretty cheap right now.

There is a small bed of shrubs along with the potted trees for greenery; so if you don't like cutting grass this is ideal.

Pebble Mosaic patios have been extremely popular. For those who enjoy the whimsical in their gardens, they deliver in spades.

This gorgeous small patio is made out of river pebble mosaic stones. The design is a representation of the creation of the universe. Pebble mosaics can be used for paths, patios, patterns on stone walls, or on large clay pots; in fact, on just about anything you want.

This gorgeous patio has a raised wood deck patio, off of a stone patio, with outdoor lights installed in the deck boards. The area generally is fairly large, which has given license to create stunning contrasts in colors between the dark brown wood stain and the white concrete garden partition walls. Smart use of colors creates spaciousness! The pink and white pavers on the patio echo the pink and white flowers in the garden. This tropical patio with fireplace is enclosed on three sides. In fact, the fireplace has a stucco half wall that also provides privacy. This is a good example of an outdoor patio and fireplace in a small area that does not look enclosed, even though there are two exterior walls on either side. Be sure to add green foliage on either side of the fireplace next to the walls to soften the hard lines.

This patio area beside the house is ensconced by a high stone wall and staircase. The interlocked brick patio matches the coloring in the stone retaining wall which creates the illusion of more space. Note all colors match in tone to create a patio area that looks spacious, i.e. matching tones on staircase handrail, brick on house, etc.
