Small Business Website

Do I need a website or can I get away with conventional old fashion advertising ?

In the 21st Century it could be said that every Small Business should have a website or blog if they are going to want to succeed in this new era of doing business.

Whilst some small businesses may got away without a website in the short term, it is not going to be the case when this new generation of pc users start working and purchasing goods themselves.

Not only are they already becoming old hats at purchasing online, they are being taught in schools to research online before making a decision. And I am not talking about the generation in primary school, I am talking about today's school leavers. So you are going to need to be where they are.

Consider the value a website can add to your Business

A website can allow your existing and new customers ready access to a host of information which you are unable to deliver through conventional advertising.

You may think you don't need a website as you run a Lawn Mowing Business in you local area. Well I am here to say that you do !!! You may get exceptional interest from you advertisements and leaflet drops but how much information can you provide the client using these means of advertising.

A website with you up to date rates, the area you will travel, photos of some of your work... "But I only mow lawns".... Consider a photo of the best looking house with a fresh cut, how will that do for selling, as the saying goes "A picture can be worth a thousand words"

we website allows your customer to have access to information which he or she might not be able to see from the flyer you delivered, or the advertisement you placed in the newspaper. Consider your business card, how much information can a potential client see on your card.

But don't forget that the obvious also exists, if you chuck up a website and it looks really crappy you can turn clients away at lightening speed.

Having a Domain Name

One thing everyone needs to consider when creating a website or blog it a domain name. Now I know that you can use the url that you get with the blog or some other long free url that you can have, but nothing works better than your own domain name.

Having a domain name immediately tells people that you have gone to the trouble of purchasing a name and this means you aim to be around.

It also has one important factor for you. A domain name can be purchased from places like Godaddy and then redirected to anyplace on the web. This is exactly what I do, and all my websites exist with domain names purchased through www.GoDaddy.com

It means that if for some reason the blog company goes south or the host provider where my website is disappears or becomes unreliable I can move my web material elsewhere or start up again an simply redirect the domain name to this new location.

So you may be thinking "So What".... Well think about all that good will out there, from all your leaflet drops, your business cards and anywhere word of mouth is working. By always retaining you domain name your clients or potential clients can always be certain of finding you.

Great Stuff on Amazon

There was an error connecting to the Amazon web service. Please try again. Sorry, there are no results available from Amazon.

New YouTube vids

Just because this is a Squidoo Lens I decided to let it pick a video from You Tube, I hope it is relevant...

But looking at the theme of this Lens its obvious that if you do not already have a web page for your Small Business then now is the time you should think about doing so.

You may also consider adding video content to your site.... A video is a great way for existing and new clients to preview your service or your products.
