They All Add Up

Life can be amazing if you take the time to notice the small moments that make up our day. The trick is to spend some time writing down these small moments. That's how the diary came into being. Don't you wish that you could go back and look over some of those moments from a particular year in your life??

A Few Small Moment From the Past :)

I'm thinking about my granddaughter today. She's still a tiny little thing but I'm so lucky to have Skype. Can you imagine how difficult it must have been in the past to connect with grandchildren if you did not live in the same country? Today, it's do-able. :)

I'm thinking about my son's wedding and how close it's getting. What's even stranger is all morning all I have been thinking about was what he looked like as a little boy. I guess they just never grow up in a mother's eye. I'm just sitting back and savoring that cute little smile. :)

My daughter and I just got home from the park and we passed a Chinese lady who was following a walkway around the park and singing at the top of her lungs! So that she wouldn't forget the words, she even brought a songbook with her. I'm not sure that I could take my ipod along with me and sing to my heart's content, but she certainly was enjoying herself. I'm giving her a big thumbs up!

*What small moment will I write about today?

My 5 month old granddaughter cut her first tooth and bit me lol!

Embrace the Summer

And this is coming from someone who is battling summer allergies big time. I finally went to the doctor and he put me on meds that does the job about half the time. At least I know that it was not anything serious. I don't think that I have ever suffered from allergies before, so this summer kind of scared me. So, going to the doctor, put my mind at rest and I can spend a little time each day puttering in my garden and simply enjoying life!

I had my last appointment at the Endodontist today... yes on Christmas Eve Day and guess what. I get stuck. The car won't move and I'm going to be late if I get there at all. But to my rescue is our next door neighbor who gives me enough of a push to get us up the hill. I wonder if he knows just how much I appreciated it? If not, he soon will. I hung a plastic bag on his door (he wasn't home) with a small box of chocolates and a Thank-you card.

If we all did one little thing to help our neighbors, wouldn't the world be a nicer place??

Embrace the Winter

And this is coming from someone who really doesn't like the winter all that much! But there ARE people out there who love the snowy season, so I simply have to get out there and see what winter has to offer. Here's a few things that might work!

*watching the bird feeder for a few minutes to see who is taking advantage of the goodies

*get out and shovel the driveway. There is nothing like a little snow to bring out all of the neighbors!

*Head to the park. I have to admit that I haven't been there since late autumn!

I will add to the list as new things occur to me. As you can see... I'm definitely not a winter person. This list was hard!!

Learning to Meditate

I have found that the more I meditate, the better I get. I read somewhere that you can't mess up meditation... you simply improve the more you do it.

*I think that it's working!

A trip down the lane...

Go for a walk and pick some flowers for your table. It's not the same picking them up from a supermarket. You have to go out (your special moment) and choose the perfect blooms. And don't get fancy with your best vase either. Wash out an old jar and put the flowers in fresh water. Your blooms will look gorgeous sitting on your desk!

It's so easy to be 'doing', and often hard to just 'be'.

Hello! Fall Greetings from Vancouver Island! Taking a moment to stop by and wish you a wonderful fall season! The leaves are turning, the sun is out but the weather is cooler. It feels cozy by the fire! :)

I spent about tens years writing a sentence or two in a day calendar. After two kids 18 months apart the idea faded away. I still have the calendars. Some day I will sit in the backyard and read them. My high school diaries are funny. Nice lens.

The memories will never fade:) My mom has diaries full of info about us during our teen years. Not sure if I want to read that or not lol.

I'm Changing My Ways

Today, I simply sat outside and read a book. THAT IS SO NOT ME. I guess when I was growing up I learned that if you weren't working, you were simply wasting time and years later, I still feel that way. But as hard as it was, I gave myself a small moment just to be happy. No work allowed!
