The Smoking Ban And You!

Whether you want to quit smoking in time for the ban in public places or you just want to find out what your smokers rights will be then this is the webpage for you.

It is widely accepted that the best way to give up smoking by far is with Hypnotherapy. The reason for this is that it deals with the part of your brain that keeps you a smoking. We refer to this part of the brain as the subconscious mind and it is this that the hypnosis works to reprogram so that stopping is a pleasure instead of an up hill struggle.

When Does The Ban Start?

And what does it mean to you?

Well 2007 is upon us and this is the year that will go down in history for being the year that smoking was banned in public place in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Many are excited at not having to sit in smoke filled bars any longer, however many smokers are confused and baffled about what the new law will mean to them. In this article I want to answer a few questions that the smokers and non-smokers amongst you may have.

When does the new law come into affect?

The new ban will be legally effective in England from July 1st, 2007. This follows its implementation already in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland over the last two months.

Where can't you smoke?

You will not be able to smoking in any building that is considered public. This includes pubs, nightclubs, restaurants and private members clubs.

Where can you smoke?

You will still be able to smoke outdoors, at home, in prison or a hotel room (if still permitted by the management).

You could however be restricted in a football stadium, a railway station or a bus stop with a semi-enclosed roof.

What happens if you are caught smoking in a public place?

If you are caught smoking in a public place after July 1st, 2007 then you could be made to pay a £50 fine.

If an owner of premises in which smoking is banned gets caught allowing people to smoke, they could face a fine of up to £2,500.

It is an outrage. There is no reason why some provision can't be made for smokers. Pubs are not health clubs. If you want to get healthy go to the gym. I understand that there are a lot of people who don't like smoke. Great. Let's have places they can go. But don't ban smokers from going out.
