Tips To Help You Cope With Your Smoking Withdrawal Symptoms
The first thing is you have to want to quit. If you are quitting because someone told you to it is much harder. When I smoked I also rode motorcycles, so it is nearly impossible to smoke and ride. So when I was riding I didn't smoke.
So when I drove I decided to not smoke in the car either. It was annoying when you gave someone a lift and they lit up.
The other thing I did which I think helped me, was nearly every winter when you get a bit of a flu. I would go to the doctor and get some tablets.
He usually told me to stop smoking for a while. So I gave up smoking for 2 weeks - 14 days and on the 15th day I resumed smoking.
The fact I knew I could smoke again on the 15th day made it very easy to stop.
When I finally decided to quit smoking I did it cold turkey.
Giving up smoking no matter what anyone tells you is not easy. I know I'm an exsmoker.(But don't hold that against me). One of the biggest thing I found was a spare hand all the time. ou either had a smoke in it or a lighter or your packet of smokes in it. Now you will for a while seem to have a spare hand.
Also have a good supply of sweets or chewing gum at hand for the first few weeks.
Your brain has been conditioned to make you want to have a smoke reguarly. It takes a while to be able to say no to your brain.
Try not to listen to your "friends" who keep saying you will never do it. If for no other reason than to prove them wrong.
You will be improving your smoking health risks chances every day you dont smoke.
When you do magage to quit, some of your friends might ask you what are some of effects of quitting smoking.
You can tell them your smokers cough is going, food tastes better, you are no longer winded walking up hills and best of all your breath and clothes no longer reek of tobacco.
Whatever you do do not be tempted to have 'just one puff'. My brother in law did and within 3 weeks he was back to a packet a day. He had given up for 7 years??
I used to smoke two cigarette for each beer I drank. So not drinking so much takes away that urge. I know it is not so easy.
It made it easier for me as I started cutting down drinking at the same time.
One of the other symptoms of quitting smoking is a bigger appetite. Your brain needs to have an alternative to nicotine and it picks food usually.
