GUIDE TO CANNABIS

I have found that the use of Cannabis is generally frowned upon by those who view this herb as a this horrible gateway drug which is just ruining lives. I just can't see it in the same light. I personally believe it can heal, help, and broaden one's open-mindedness. I believe the pros of proper use far outweighs the negatives. Unless you go to jail for it of course. This lens is dedicated to those celebrities who are advocates and/or consumers of Cannabis, both past and present, and a guide of sorts for the newbies to the culture.

CHEECH AND CHONG

REMEMBER, YOU MUST BE RESPONSIBLE

DON'T BE DUMB ABOUT IT

Advice to the legions of Tokers out there who are ignorant of the finer points of partaking in this wonderful herb. This is not meant for the young or impressionable. So, if you are young and impressionable, GET OUT OF MY LENS!!!
  • First and foremost, let me say that this lens is meant to be informative and I am in no way condoning the use of this herb by young and/or impressionable people of dubious intellect. I do say to each their own, however, for those individuals who are not that bright to begin with, I suggest not doing anything to further deteriorate your menial mental abilities.I have personally been a long time hemp aficionado and have run across many fellow tokers through my extensive travels. I have met true pot purists who understand the how and why of smoking, and I have also met those who just should not smoke or smoke only to fit in with the crowd. I have decided to make a list of things which the marijuanically ignorant should abide by in order to not be a complete dufus.

DREW BARRYMORE

RULE #1

1. If you are still in school, on the job, in the public eye, have to meet with clients, parents, or have a good chance of having to speak to someone of authority face to face, it might be a good idea to carry and make use of eye drops (Bausch & Lomb is the best in my opinion), smell-good (otherwise known as cologne or perfume, but don't use too much, PLEASE), breath mints or gum (because you can smell pot on your breath as well, stupid).

WOODY HARRELSON

JACK BLACK

RULE #2

2. Do not, I repeat, do not just sit around and vegetate after a session. You must do something to stimulate your mind. Read, write, work, watch something with substance, have a conversation with someone about anything which may make you think, God forbid. The lack of mental stimulation can cause irreparable harm when in constant and habitual usage mode. This is where terms like "dead head" (not just used for fans of The Grateful Dead), and stoner come from.

ROBERT ALTMAN

KAREEM ABDUL JABBAR

RULE #3

3. You should always take the time to de-stem and de-seed your pot prior to smoking, otherwise you run the risk of getting a headache, the smoke being harsh and distasteful, or putting unnecessary holes in your blunt or joint.

BRAD PITT

BILL MAHER

HARRISON FORD

RULE #4

4. If you are partaking within the confines of a room in your parents house (WHICH MAKES YOU AN ASSHOLE), a hotel, your dorm room, bathroom in a public place (IDIOT), or your under-aged kids are at home (YOU NEED TO BE PUT IN JAIL), then pick a time when you will be least likely to be disturbed, have air freshener (those with odor eliminator or neutralizer are best), or incense (Nag Champas are great), or make and use a "snarf". Those unfamiliar with a snarf, it is best to use either the inner cardboard roll of a paper towel or toilet paper roll. Fold 5 or 6 laundry dryer sheets over one end of the roll with rubber bands or duct tape, then stuff the inside with more dryer sheets. Make sure you are smoking from a bowl or bong because it doesn't matter when you are smoking a blunt or joint. These two items tend to smoke and smell CONTINUOUSLY , DUFUS!. After each toke blow the smoke out through the snarf and you will find that the smoke smells much more like fabric dryer sheets than anything else.

HAROLD AND KUMAR ( JOHN AND KAL)

KIRSTEN DUNST

JACK NICHOLSON

RULE #5

5. If you do not wish to become a big, fat piece of shiftless crap, then you must figure out a way to control the munchies. I have found it best to keep food or snacks on hand which contain less calories and fat. In this way you can satisfy the munchies beast without running the risk of gaining 10 pounds every time you smoke. Yes, you may crave a quadruple cheese burger with a pack of bacon, a couple of extra large fully loaded pizzas, a 12 egg omelet, or any number of other delights, but learn to resist gorging all the time. By all means, treat yourself once in a while, but it just isn't a good idea to do it all the time.

BOB MARLEY

CALVIN KLEIN

JANE FONDA

RULE #6

6. Don't be a mooch. You know who I'm talking about. The jerk who seems to always be there to smoke up your stash, but never seems to be around to share theirs with you, if and when they have any. These people should be ridiculed and treated like pariahs.

JOHN LENNON / PAUL McCARTNEY

JIMI HENDRIX

LOUIS ARMSTRONG

RULE #7

7. If you are the type of person who seems to be a favorite target for law enforcement agents, it might not be a good idea to drive around smoking, possessing a large amount of smoke, or better yet, just don't do it, El Stupido.

ANDREA CORR

JENNIFER ANISTON

NEWT GINGRICH

RULE #8

8. NEVER REVEAL YOUR SOURCE TO ANYONE!!! If you grow your own, DON'T TELL ANYONE!!! This is most prevalent when dealing with people you have just met or barely know. Even when dealing with long time friends, if you know them to have a big fucking mouth, DON'T TELL THEM!!!

BING CROSBY

GIORGIO ARMANI

NORMAN MAILER

RULE #9

9. If you are a user, PLEASE be a responsible user. Just like not drinking and driving, don't drive the frickin' car pool right after smoking a joint. Just don't drive, PERIOD. Do not do ANYTHING which requires full use of your motor skills and affects other people around you. I have heard so many people say that they are okay to do this and do that after they smoke. How the hell do you know?! You're high, idiot.

MICHAEL BLOOMBERG

PETER FONDA

PIERRE ELLIOT TRUDEAU

LEGALIZE IT !

RULE #10

10. If you are a parent of young children, I've got to ask, "WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION!!!!???!!" You've got kids!!! At least take a break and wait till they are of age and out of the house. Pot is not going anywhere. It will be there when and if you decide to continue your love affair with the whacky tobacky.

TED TURNER

PAUL SIMON / ART GARFUNKEL

JOHNNY CASH

END OF RULES

These are just a few of the rules of pot smoking which all smokers should live by. If you are ignorant of pot culture and do not know how to appreciate the benefits of this herbal gift to mankind, then I urge you to study it and gain some enlightenment.

OH !!! And by the way, if you are having a session with others, don't hog it !!! HIT, HIT, PASS, BIZNATCH !!!

POT STATS AND FACTS

ThePotLawHasFallen.ca
Oh Cannabis!

TopTenFacts

How can a just society allow alcohol and tobacco companies to sponsor public cultural events (and plaster their ads everywhere), but at the same time allow cannabis consumers to be fined, arrested, jailed and stigmatized?

No one has EVER died from ingesting cannabis. Where are the "harms" that supposedly justify such an unjust treatment of millions of Canadians?

The belief that pot smokers deserve to be punished is usually based in a sense of morality, or a deficient understanding of the facts.

The problem is that factual information on cannabis is not reaching the general public.

Any sincere effort to educate oneself about the cannabis issue will result in the realization that it is the PROHIBITION of cannabis that is causing the harm to both cannabis users and to society as a whole.

The Le Dain Commission recommended decriminalizing cannabis back in 1973!

In 2002 a Senate Special Committee, after an exhaustive study of the cannabis issue, recommended the legalization and regulation of cannabis.

If you believe the current cannabis laws are clearly unjust and harmful, share your thoughts with others! Real progress will happen once enough of the public is educated about the truth about marijuana.

Who's Who: Celebrity Tokers

What does a pot smoker look like?
The stereotypes don't hold true for the vast majority of cannabis consumers.
Knowing of celebrities who use cannabis helps to normalize the perception of who pot smokers are.

The vast majority of cannabis consumers are very private about their use, for fear of legal consequences and concerns for their reputation.

The reality is that if all pot smokers suddenly "came out" and acknowledged their use of marijuana you'd be amazed at the large numbers of people, and also by the wide variety of people represented in society.

Cannabis consumers are just regular people who enjoy the effects of cannabis, a substance far less harmful than tobacco or alcohol.

That's right, the least harmful of those three substances is the only one that's illegal. What message does that send to our children?

WHAT DOES A TOKER LOOK LIKE ????

YOU MAY BE VERY SURPRISED. THEN AGAIN, MAYBE NOT.

James Franco
"I don't consider weed to be any worse than having a beer," says actor James Franco, who plays a marijuana dealer in the new film Pineapple Express.

Art Garfunkel
"If John Lennon is deported, I'm leaving too... with my musicians... and my marijuana."

Newt Gingrich
Speaker of the House. Smoker of the weed.
Gingrich said he smoked pot while studying in the 1970s. To do so, Gingrich said, "was a sign that we were alive and in graduate school in that era."

Al Gore
Gore has maintained his marijuana usage was "infrequent and rare" and ended in 1972.

Larry Hagman

Woody Harrelson
"I do smoke, but I don't go through all this trouble just because I want to make my drug of choice legal. It's about personal freedom. We should have the right in this country to do what we want, if we don't hurt anybody. Seventy-two million people in this country have smoked pot. Eighteen to 20 million in the last year. These people should not be treated as criminals."

Whitney Houston
January 2000: Hawaiian airport security guards searched Whitney's carry-on bag and found 15 grams of pot.

Chrissie Hynd
"Whatever I'm already doing becomes enhanced when I smoke pot. It can also be demotivating, because if I'm not doing anything and I smoke a joint, it enhances just sitting in a chair. Then I don't even want to get up to change a record. That might not be a bad thing, but you have to get things done once in a while."

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Sir Mick Jagger

Thomas Jefferson

John F Kennedy

Steven King
"I think that marijuana should not only be legal, I think it should be a cottage industry. It would be wonderful for the state of Maine. There's some pretty good homegrown dope. I'm sure it would be even better if you could grow it with fertilizers and have greenhouses. . . ."

John Lennon

Bill Maher
(On the advisory board of NORML)

Norman Mailer
One's condition on marijuana is always existential. One can feel the importance of each moment and how it is changing one. One feels one's being, one becomes aware of the enormous apparatus of nothingness-the hum of a hi-fi set, the emptiness of a pointless interruption, one becomes aware of the war between each of us, how the nothingness in each of us seeks to attack the being of others, how our being in turn is attacked by the nothingness in others.

Bob Marley
"Music and herb go together. It's been a long time now I smoke herb. From 1960s, when I first start singing."

Linda McCartney
Linda made headlines as a result of an open fondness for marijuana. While being treated for breast cancer she smoked pot to ease the discomfort of chemotherapy.

Sir Paul McCartney
"I think the 'Just say no' mentality is so crazed. I saw a thing in a women's magazine the other day. 'He smokes cannabis, what am I to do? He laughs it off when I try to tell him, he says it's not really harmful...' Of course you're half hoping the advice will be, 'Well, you know it's not that harmful; if you love him, if you talk to him about it, tell him maybe he should keep it in the garden shed or something,' you know, a reasonable point of view. But of course it was, 'No, no, all drugs are bad. Librium's good, Valium's good. But cannabis, ooooh!' I hate that unreasoned attitude."

Matthew McConaughey

George Michael
"...this time last year I was a complete and utter pothead. I know it's lunacy but the horrible truth is that the grass really helped me. It got me through making [my album] Older. I was under more stress than I'd ever been. This [album] had to amount to something substantial to justify the wait. And grass really helped me with the lyrics. I'd know there was something I really wanted to say but I wouldn't know how to say it, so I'd have a few drags and stand behind the mike and in a few minutes it'd be there.

CANDICE BERGEN

STEPHEN KING

FANS OF CANNABIS

Robert Altman
"I was a heavy drinker, but the alcohol affected my heart rather than my liver. So I stopped. I smoke grass now. I say that to everybody, because marijuana should be legalized. It's ridiculous that it isn't. If at the end of the day I feel like smoking a joint I do it. It changes the perception of what I've been through all day."
(On the advisory board of NORML)

Jennifer Aniston
"I enjoy smoking cannabis and see no harm in it". (Supposedly she and Brad Pitt smoked up together prior to meeting with Bill Clinton.)

Louis Armstrong
"It really puzzles me to see marijuana connected with narcotics . . . dope and all that crapÉit's a thousand times better than whiskey - it's an assistant - a friend."

Jack Black
Actor and singer for the band "Tenacious D".
Voted pot smoker of the year by High Times magazine. Jack will be playing a set at an upcoming NORML conference.

Michael Bloomberg (NY mayor)
When asked if he ever smoked pot, he replied, "You bet I did. And I enjoyed it!"

Tom Brokaw
"There was this early benign attitude, certainly toward marijuana, and then even toward cocaine later on, which was not an area for me. I didn't go there. But you know, marijuana was being passed around at very establishment cocktails parties like an after-dinner drink of some kind."

In the taped recordings of a conversation, Bush explained his refusal to answer questions about whether he had used marijuana at some time in his past. "I wouldn't answer the marijuana questions," Bush says. "You know why? Because I don't want some little kid doing what I tried." When reminded that the latter had publicly denied using cocaine, Bush replied, "I haven't denied anything."

Johnny Cash
A good friend of Willie Nelson's.
Cash made headlines when he refused to change the lyrics to suit network executives, singing the song with its references to marijuana intact: "On the Sunday morning sidewalks / Wishin', Lord, that I was stoned."

Tommy Chong
Born in Edmonton, Alberta. Cheech Marin was a draft dodger living in Vancouver when he first met Chong. Check out his action figure.
Chong was recently sent to jail for 9 months for selling waterpipes over the internet.
