Some people might be a little depressed by the greyness of concrete, towering skyscrapers and graffiti covered decaying walls (my favorite!) - but I find every nook and cranny of an industrial city full of photographic potential.
An Urban Landscape Photography artist looks for these photographic possibilities in the cities and and urban areas everywhere, where we live, work, visiting, etc. Urban Landscape photography is often gritty, it's not always pretty and it can be quite abstract. In my opinion, as an artist, it's very cool, especially for portraiture!
Here's why I'm making this page
That's ok, neither do I. Most of what I've written about can be explored in the suburbs and even smaller towns as really urban landscapes document and explore the places where people live and gather - big or small. Believe me, with a little imagination, a different angle or perspective, and you can give your photo's (no matter where you are) an urban, gritty, modern, artful flair!
Tip: One thing that fascinates me about cities is the differences in the feel and sites that you can witness from area to area. Within a block or two you can move from a business district or commercial zone to a gritty, run down industrial zone or a trendy inner city residential or shopping area. Many urban landscape photographers have a preference for one or more of these types of areas but if you're just starting out it can be worth experimenting with exploring the possibilities that each of these areas can present you with oppourtunites for the shot of the year!
Feel free to share your ideas or suggestions, I'd love to hear them! All the best to each of you.
A blog all about this
It's modern, constantly up-to-date, and gives me a lot of food for thought as I follow the daily life of these excellent professional photographers.

Are you a fellow artist?
I use Canon bodies and Canon lenses for their quality, accuracy and dependability. I have used them for 10 years and never have given me a single problem. I have seven camera bodies, but my next one is the Canon 5D MarkII (21mps) - save yourself $5300 over the Canon 1Ds MarkIII (21mps)!
