Unique Creations by Becki

This lens is meant to get the word out about my clayworks, especially the angels. Who knows? I might even sell a few! Creativity is a passion of mine, and that's another reason for creating this lens: because it's fun and I've never done it before!

"Never done it before"......I don't know why that's important to me, but it must be. I always want to "try" everything! Well, everything artsy, that is. I have no desire to explore underwater caves or go bungee-jumping. I guess I have a "chicken" side too!
"BOK! boc boc boc BOC!!!"

You can never have too many ANGELS

Creativity was never so sweet!

I like the way moist clay feels under and between my fingers. It started with Play-doh, I guess. I believe in angels, and that belief comforts me. I guess connecting the 2 ideas comes naturally. I'm a self-taught potter (and quilter, painter, glassworker, colored pencil artist, etc.). I took "Intro to Pottery at High Point College (it's "University" now, but it was college in 1979) because I needed one more class for a fulltime load, and it was in the right timeslot, and I didn't think it would involve much Math). I flunked that class royally. I guess I was too busy majoring in boys and parties. BUT, I had gotten my hands in clay......and I never want to get them out. I bought a used kiln, and read everything the library had on handbuilding pottery, and then I dived in.....and I've been there every since. That's the same way I learned to paint, to quilt, to sew, to melt glass. Well, most everything I know how to do (or pretend to know how), I taught myself by jumping in and just doing it. That's pretty much how I go at life too. Full Tilt Boogie 24/7!
Pictured here is the full Angel Set. There are 3 versions of the tall angel, Witness, Madonna, and Candlelight. There is also an ornament made to hang on a Christmas tree (or in the nursery, etc.). The middle sized angel is simply a decoration. As I create new ones, you'll see them here. Enjoy!

Let me know what you think! It's important to me.

"Your thoughts, Hobson?" (from the movie "Arthur")

The site is great! Hope you'll show-off some of your other "crafty" talents on here as well.

Doodles in Colored Pencil

Coloring must have affected me much like Play-Doh when I was a child. Anyway, I loved it then, and I still love it. I began coloring "again" as an adult during a time when I was in emotional crisis. I found that it helped me relax, and then I could think or cry or scream or whatever else I needed to do to take care of myself. That was nearly 20 years ago, and I'm still at it. Like pottery, colors (however I choose to put them together) are soothing and therapeutic. I just love to do it!
