Hawaii Snorkeling
Hawaii snorkeling is a fun activity available all ages and to almost any skill level of swimmer. You can discover breathtaking views of Hawaii's most exotic sea life just a few short yards from shore. The high visibility waters of Hawaii are warmed to an average temperature of 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit.Snorkeling in Hawaii's pristine waters is an unforgetable experience that will leave you impressed for life. Tour operators provide all the equipment you will need for snorkeling and make your adventure unforgettable. Trained instructors are even available on every tour.
Snorkeling also known as underwater sightseeing is gaining wide popularity. The gear, which is a lot like scuba gear, including a mask, fins and a short tube called a snorkel. The snorkel is about a foot long and allows you to have your face under water while the snorkel sticks out of the water allowing you to breath without taking your face out of the water. Snorkeling is done just below the surface of water, more like floating rather than swimming in still waters like lagoons, where moving water won't enter the snorkel.
Most snorkeling is done around reefs where most of the sea life lives. Altough it looks like rock, coral reef is an ocean creature itself. The coral reef provides food and habitat for sea life. You may encounter dolphins, turtles and of course hundreds of species of colorful tropical fish on the many hawaii snorkeling adventures available.
Snorkeling does have it's dangers however, hazards such as mask (or snorkel) flooding, ear pressure build up, low visibility under water due to sand and silt stirred up from wind / currents...etc. Coral is very sharp, it will cut your hands and legs due to contact with it so be careful. Some sea urchins can be dangerous as well and may inject venomous spines into inexperienced divers and there are also some eel which may bite. Your snorkeling guide or trainer will warn you of these things, so don't ;et them dampan your enthusiasm.
Your Hawaii snorkeling adventure is waiting for you just off the shore of whichever island you choose. Don't forget to bring your waterproof camera!
