"Finding the right snowboard binding is key to dialing in your ride. This guide will help you choose the binding to fit your needs no matter your snowboarding style or ability.
New Snowboard Rider:
The new snowboard rider will want a binding that help them feel secure while having a forgiving flex and a high level of comfort. These bindings will be at a lower price point to help people get into the sport. The components are mostly plastic and tend to be quite durable. Snowboard bindings with light and simple construction with a soft adjustable high back and comfy straps is the ideal choice.

All Mountain Snowboard Rider:
All Mountain riders and resort cruisers will want a snowboard binding that's versitile. It's all about the rider's personal preferance. Snowboard Binding for the Free Rider
The aggressive free rider is going to look for a binding that's extremely responsive while able to absorb the vibrations from high speed riding. With a rigid binding frame and light yet stiff highback, this set up will be the ultimate in energy transfer. The straps will have a balance of comfort and high end performance, and the bindings, many times are at the highest price point.

Rome Targa
FreeStyle Snowboard Bindings
For freestylers, there's a number of different options. The jibbers will want a binding that's simple and can take a good amount of abuse. The binding frame should give a true skate like feel. The highbacks tend to be short and soft so that they don't get in the way. However, winged highbacks (Burton Infidel) can help you get into that deep board press. The big air freestylers will want a binding that can take those hard hit landings. The binding frame should be supportive and offer maximum cushion under foot with a flexible as well adjustable highback.

Snowboard Binding Fit
How to Choose Snowboard Bindings
Snowboard Binding Fit
Watch this video to hear how you should determine which snowboard bindings to choose depending on whether you are male or female and what type of snowboarder you are: freestyle or mountain riding.
Typically a female snowboarder will want bindings specifically designed for a female foot and leg. The bindings will be narrower and the back of the binding will not be as high, to compensate for the shorter height of most female snowboarders.
Male snowboarders will basically pick a binding based on their shoe size, height, and type of rider they are, freestyle or mountain. People have personal preferences of course, but in general, a freestyle rider typically wants a more flexible high back and foot bed tray than a mountain rider. A little give in the binding let the snowboarder ride the parks and rails and do more moves.
